Disney+'s a resounding "no." But there's definitely more than a handful of evidence to solidify the claim.
From small glitches in the matrix to straight-up fourth-wall breaks, the show has given fans more than enough reasons to dispute this seemingly charming world. There's something sinister going on and someone is definitely pulling the strings to lead the heroes along.
“Indestructible Head”
Not technically a glitch to the cast, but one that fans of the MCU will certainly pick up and appropriately cringe. One of the first signs that the world is definitely not what it seems is Vision's "indestructible head."
Anyone who saw Infinity War knows that Thanos literally ripped the Soul Stone out of vision's skull. Ergo, the line about his head should be a big, and tragic, tip-off to most viewers.
“Arthur, Stop It!”
If viewers need a more in-your-face example of reality-warping, the choking scene during dinner with the Harts should be a dead giveaway. Needless to say, it gets freaky after a while.
As harmless as Debra Jo Rupp might appear, hearing her on a loop while her husband chokes to death is downright chilling. Notice how time doesn't move forward until after Vision uses his phasing powers. Something is going down, and it's not necessarily good.
The Helicopter
A toy helicopter landing in a bush of a suburban neighborhood doesn't sound like much of a threat, but when that toy helicopter bears the SWORD emblem and is the only colored object in a black-and-white world, people start asking questions.
This might be a symbol from the real-world leaking into the fantasy, or maybe it's SWORD trying to bring the heroes out of some fabricated prison. Either way, it definitely means the pair are being watched.
The Radio
At this point, it should be an undisputed fact that the curious fabric of this world's reality is beginning to unravel. When a disembodied voice starts calling out to Wanda by name, the truth finally starts sinking in for Scarlet Witch.
It's blunt, it's unsettling, it's cold, it's a sure-fire slice of evidence that cannot be ignored. Someone is trying to reach them, and they'll stop at nothing to do so.
Dottie’s Blood
Simple yet scary, the scene with Dottie and the broken glass not only ripples the reality but shocks the viewer back into the plot as well. Dottie's red blood against her monochrome flesh is definitely a striking visual.
This instance proves two things. One, that the world is beginning to affect its residents. Two, the people inhabiting it aren't all illusions. Wanda and Visions might not be the only ones in danger.
The Watch Commercial
Yet another case subtle revelation comes in the form of the watch commercial that breaks up the episode. There are two dead giveaways to the inner workings of this universe, and they both lie in the make of the watch.
The first, and most obvious, is the name. Strucker is a reference to the HYDRA agent who oversaw the experiments done on both Wanda and her brother. The second is the tiny HYDRA symbol on the watch face, perhaps alluding to the organization's involvement somehow?
The Beekeeper
This one still has many viewers scratching their heads, but definitely stands out as incredibly weird. The random beekeeper climbing out of the sewer sounds like something more at home in a Stephen King novel than the Marvel Universe, but then there's the SWORD logo.
The guy has to be a SWORD agent trying, and failing, to blend in with this black and white world. Although it's unknown who he is, how he got there, or what his intentions are, he just might be the catalyst for some serious repercussions.
The Rewind
This is really up for anyone's interpretation, but that's what makes it all the more interesting. Did the fake world cause the rewind effect? Or did Wanda? After all, she does have the power. They don't call her Scarlet Witch for nothing.
Is this world the creation of some supernatural supervillain, a strange simulation, or is this all Wanda's doing? She does have reality-warping abilities, what if she managed to do it on a larger scale?
"This Is Really Happening"
Sudden onset pregnancy should be a concern to anyone, but when one's partner is a robotic being with no biological components or genetic material to speak of, the red flags are definitely going up.
It's not clear why this is happening to Wanda, whether it's an illusion, the effects of the fake world, or something else altogether. But whatever it is, is it really happening? It's unclear, but it's an outcome that will most definitely have some consequences in the series.
In Glorious Technicolor
Did Walt Disney suddenly take over the director's chair? Unless he's going to make a cameo in the series, something is definitely wrong, despite the sudden splash of color.
Is the world progressing through the eras of television, Wanda trying to keep the illusion alive, or is it simply a distraction to keep the characters from getting wise to their situation? Hopefully, the series will progress and expand, giving viewers more answers than enigmas.
