A petition is calling for the return of Rockstar’s take on the cult classic film The Warriors. Released in 2005, The Warriors video game allowed players to take control of the infamous street gang as they establish themselves in New York before eventually having to fight their way back to their turf in Coney Island like in the movie. Along with a faithful setting and retelling of movie events, Rockstar was also able to get several Warriors cast to reprise their roles, which helped the experience feel much more authentic.
glitches and bugs of the GTA Trilogy remasters, it’s understandable why a remake is preferred. Thornton also hopes the success of a new Warriors game would lead to the return of other dormant Rockstar classics. Currently, The Warriors remake petition is sitting at just over 900 signatures on Change.org and is nearing its goal of 1,000 petitioners.
The Warriors Is One Of Rockstar Games' Overlooked Classics
A cursory glance at petitioner comments reveals that The Warriors game is more beloved than one possibly think. Many cited the game as an important part of their childhood, while others were captivated by its gritty atmosphere and tone. One fan, in particular, gave a rather ionate comment about how subtle gameplay elements in The Warriors made the “world feel more real as well as feeling like you're a part of it with more control than you often get in games.”
The Warriors was one of many successful games Rockstar developed in the 2000s. With a catalog of classic Rockstar Games’ current development of GTA 6.
While Rockstar may be a bit preoccupied with Grand Theft Auto 6 at the moment, anything could happen after its release. After all, Rockstar has a penchant for surprising fans with some of its best work between GTA entries. Hopefully, this petition can convince Rockstar to let The Warriors come out and play afterward.
