TimTheTatman is no stranger to hackers during his Call of Duty: Warzone streams, which is both endlessly frustrating for him, but somewhat hilarious for the audience. The latest encounter actually ended with TimTheTatman and his squad witnessing a Warzone hacker being banned in real-time, thanks to friends in high places, something largely pretty unheard of.
TimTheTatman has been targeted by Warzone hackers in the past, resulting in victories being robbed from him. Although one of the last incidents resulted in the hacker simply hunting Tim and then leaving after killing him and only him, it has proven there's a big issue in the Warzone community. Not only is it apparently way too easy to get into someone else's lobby, something that probably shouldn't be allowed, but hackers are in such abundance that it's become almost expected to see them on live streams.
TimTheTatman and his squate, Jack "CouRage" Dunlop, got fed up with a group of hackers the other night. Activision has banned Warzone hackers, but it may be the fastest and most surprising real-time ban in the history of the game. The squad freaked out as they saw the hacker suddenly vanish from the game, realizing their prayers had been answered.
Call of Duty: Warzone has been plagued with hackers since launch and it only seems to be getting worse, despite Activision's efforts. It's nice to see that some big streamers have the power to request the banhammer, but regular players don't. There's a report button, but it's not nearly as effective, and sometimes reports get ignored entirely. It doesn't seem like Activision bans IPs either, which means players can just make a whole new for the free-to-play game and go right back to it.
There are plenty of smart Warzone players who can win without cheating, but those who simply can't compete (or just want to ruin the fun of others) have made the game a bit of a cesspool. Given the reliance on Warzone for Activision, it would be smart to continue to actively combat this behavior, but in a more aggressive and permanent way so players like TimTheTatman don't abandon it. As of right now, the only consequence is losing some guns and cosmetics, but if someone is hacking, they probably don't care or can easily earn it all back with a new .
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
