Publisher Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs: Legion will be free to play for a weekend, starting September 3. The game includes a groundbreaking mechanic which allows the player to pursue, recruit and play as almost every single character in the title's open world setting of London. While Watch Dogs: Legion launched back in October 2020, the game continues to be ed through post-launch content.

Watch Dogs: Legion's recruitment mechanic was lauded by many throughout the gaming community. The ability to play as a limitless number of characters, each with their own qualities and abilities, gives the game a huge amount of variety and replayability. However, the ability to play as countless characters also means that Watch Dogs: Legion has no main protagonist. This issue was rectified in the game's recently-released Bloodline expansion, which focuses on former franchise heroes Aiden Pierce and Wrench. The presence of defined playable characters allows Bloodline to tell a more intimate and emotional narrative than Watch Dogs: Legion's main story.

Players who wish to purchase the game after the free weekend will be able to transfer their progress into the full version of the game, allowing them to maintain their progress. Watch Dogs: Legion will also be put on sale after September 5, giving interested gamers an opportunity to continue their adventure for a bargain.

Watch Dogs: Legion has received a ton of able content since its release, so now is a perfect time to try out the open-world hacker experience. A free weekend is a perfect chance for gamers to try out the game's variety of content, and a subsequent sale will make it easy for players to stick with the game. With many potential players skeptical about the game's recruitment mechanic, a free weekend is a smart way for Watch Dogs: Legion to prove its worth.
