Barbarian actor Sara Paxton confirms that she has a cameo in director Zach Cregger's next horror movie. Paxton played a minor voice role in Zegger's hit 2022 horror movie starring Bill Skarsgård as Keith, Justin Long as AJ, and Georgina Campbell as Tess. Based on the non-fiction book, The Gift of Fear, the movie tells a modern horror story about the dark secret underneath a rental home. The writer-director is working on a new movie titled Weapons, which revolves around the disappearance of high school students.

While promoting Based on a True Story season 2, Paxton tells Screen Rant's Grant Hermanns that she's in the Barbarian director's next horror movie as well. The actor teases her "sneaky cameo" and shares that she has seen Weapons. Without giving away any details, Paxton reveals that the movie is "really, really good" and believes that people will be "thrilled" when it comes out. Check out what she said below:

Yes, I do have a sneaky cameo in Weapons, as well. And I have seen it, and it's really, really good. So, I think people will be thrilled to to finally see it when it comes out.

What This Means For Weapons

Weapons Is No Less Than Barbarian

Weapons is currently scheduled for an early 2026 release, but based on Paxton's comment, it seems like the film is already assembled. It's unclear what the wait is about, but Paxton's update on the post-production of Weapons is very positive. Filming started in May and wrapped in July. Even just a few months into post-production, it sounds like the film is already close to the finish line. It might even be possible for fans to see the Barbarian director's next film sooner than expected.

Barbarian’s Original Villain Design Would’ve Given Away The Movie’s Twist

The original design of The Mother in Barbarian was criticized for not being scary. This plays into the film's theme that she is not the real monster.

Weapons stars Josh Brolin and Julia Garner in the lead roles. ing him are Benedict Wong, Alden Ehrenreich, Amy Madigan, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, June Diane Raphael, and the newly confirmed Paxton. In Barbarian, Paxton made a few sneaky voice cameos. Her comment seems to point to her involvement in Weapons being something similar in nature. It's also possible that she might make another voice appearance.

Our Take On Weapons

It's Top Secret For Now

Tess (Georgina Campbell) Holds Out Phone Flashlight in Barbarian

Barbarian received overwhelmingly positive reviews when it came out. Cregger's directorial debut also had his wife's seal of approval. Paxton shared her review in a post on X, in which she described the film as an "intense, insane, absolutely bonkers ride!" However, she seems to be intentionally holding back her thoughts on Weapons. She couldn't be more vague when describing her husband's film.

Secrecy is Cregger's style after all, and Barbarian hit fans with an unexpectedly wild ride in 2022, partially due to how tightly under wraps things were kept. If Weapons were to achieve the same effect, a high level of secrecy is required, so for now, the only thing to know is that the film has the potential to be mind-blowingly good.
