However, their story unfolds as a result of their nefarious behavior, lying to women to gain their sympathy and get them into bed. Fans love to watch John and Jeremy's hysterical antics, but when their actions are unpacked, unlikable qualities are revealed. The same goes for the rest of the main cast in Wedding Crashers.

Sack Lodge

Sack is the main antagonist in Wedding Crashers, and he has several unlikable qualities. He plots to take down John and Jeremy by revealing their ruse. However, he doesn't do it because he's worried for his family but rather driven by his hatred for the two guests.

Sack has a short temper and lashes out at his partner Claire Cleary several times throughout the film. Furthermore, he repeatedly lies to her about sleeping with other women. Sack is disingenuous and doesn't respect Claire or the rest of the Cleary family, and only feigns sincerity to placate them.

Chazz Reinhold

Will Ferrell as Chazz smiling in Wedding Crashers

Thanks to Chazz, some fans call Wedding Crashers one of Will Ferrell's best movies. Chazz is the original wedding crasher and reveals himself to be less charming than John and Jeremy. When John meets him, he is revealed as a middle-aged man living with his mother.

Having given up weddings and moved on to funerals, his manipulation of grieving women appears far less playful than John and Jeremy's antics. He yells at his mother and calls Jeremy an idiot for getting married after falling in love with Gloria. His lazy attitude and selfish behavior make him one of the film's less likable characters.

U.S. Secretary William Cleary

Christopher Walken sitting in a church pew wearing a suit in Wedding Crashers.

Secretary Cleary has some likable qualities. For example, he is one of the smarter characters in Wedding Crashers. He is cheerful toward John after he believes the two have shared interests. Furthermore, he appears to genuinely have his daughter's best interest in mind. When she has cold feet about marrying Sack, he encourages her to follow her heart.

However, Secretary Cleary also showcases several unaffable qualities. He tries to intimidate Jeremy. He is often stern and shows little affection toward his wife. Furthermore, he is negligent to his son Todd and doesn't defend him when his mother spews out homophobic slurs at him.

Gloria Cleary

Vince Vaughn lifts Isla Fisher during a dance at a wedding in Wedding Crashers

Gloria is generally kind and welcomes John and Jeremy to her family's trip. She is pleasant and is almost always shown with a smile on her face. However, she isn't one of the film's most likable characters.

She showcases irrational and erratic behavior like when she attacks Jeremy after dressing his knee wound. She can be annoying and act childish, underscored by moments like when she talks to her father in a made-up voice from her youth. She clings to Jeremy and doesn't listen to him as he tries to distance themselves from each other.

Jeremy Grey

Fans might say Jeremy is the funniest character in Wedding Crashers. He makes for some of the biggest laughs in the movie thanks to his charismatic rants. However, Jeremy is less likable than some of his peers. He is selfish and manipulative, and a womanizer by practice.

He lies to women in order to sleep with them and appears to be the "brains" of his and John's operation. His insensitive actions include posing as a purple heart recipient and trying to snatch up some of his clients' frequent flyer miles at work as a divorce mediator. However, his charm is hard to deny. He shows his comion in his relationship with John and his eventual romance with Gloria.

John Beckwith

Wedding Crashers Sequel

John performs the same deceptions as Jeremy. He is shown pretending to cry to gain sympathy, lying heavily, and he forces Jeremy to him on his crusade for Claire Cleary despite Jeremy's many objections. John proves to be unforgiving after he learns that Jeremy has been keeping a secret from him.

However, John is just as charming as Jeremy, and his care for others is shown when he comes to Jeremy's wedding despite his reservations. Jeremy's wedding is one of ' great but unrealistic weddings. He seems sincere when he apologizes to Claire and the Clearys.

Mrs. Cleary

Mrs. Cleary staring at John as the two dance in Wedding Crashers.

Mrs. Cleary is one of the less developed characters in the series, and most of her arc revolves around an attempted seduction of John. Her extramarital behavior appears like a betrayal until she reveals she and Secretary Cleary have been unfaithful since the first few years of their marriage.

Other than her strange insult toward John, Mrs. Cleary is generally kind, and perhaps the only family member to Todd when his grandmother bullies him at dinner. When he gets up to leave, she tells him to "go right ahead."

Claire Cleary

Rachel McAdams sitting on a boat in Wedding Crashers.

Claire is one of the most pleasant personalities to appear in Wedding Crashers. She often has a smile on her face and is seldom shown treating others with disrespect.

Her trust in others is irable, even though it allows John and Jeremy to deceive her through the first events of the movie. Claire is perhaps the most likable main character in Wedding Crashers because she rarely is presented showing selfish or malicious behavior.
