Luis Guzmán says there will be more Addams family in Tim Burton-created Netflix series debuted in fall 2022, and was an instant success. Instead of taking place in the Addams Family home, the spinoff focuses on Gomez (Guzmán) and Morticia's dour daughter Wednesday, and her time at Nevermore Academy. The show features a leading cast including Jenna Ortega, Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, and Isaac Ordonez. Season 2 adds several cast , including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Lady Gaga, and Noah Taylor.
In an interview with ScreenRant for his new movie Havoc, Guzmán speaks about Wednesday season 2. The actor teases that the show "went into a different galaxy," expanding the scope and improving from the first installment. Whether there would be more of the Addams Family in season 2, Guzmán responds"oh, absolutely" while continuing to hype the season. Check out the full quote from Guzmán below:
ScreenRant: Last season [of Wednesday], I was really wanting to see more of you, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Fred Armisen. Can you say anything about if we're going to get more of that classic Addams Family thing in this season?
Luis Guzmán: Oh, absolutely. I thought the first season was amazing, and I'm telling these guys, “How are you going to top this?” They went not into a different orbit or universe–they went into a different galaxy. You know what I'm saying? I tipped my hat to these guys, man, because they create a vision, and [there’s] Tim Burton, and, wow, man. It's all about the writing, and you have the most incredible, talented, gifted group of actors, and it just all works. That's all I'm going to say.
What This Means For Wednesday Season 2
Season 1 Had Less Addams Family
As the title would indicate, Wednesday season 1 focuses heavily on the eponymous teenage girl. This notably meant that other of the family, who were more heavily featured in the previous Addams Family TV shows and movies, were pushed to the wayside. Fred Armisen's Uncle Fester, for example, only appeared in a single episode of the Netflix series in its first installment. The show also took time to develop original characters such as Enid, detracting from its ability to focus on Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, and more.
While the show was well-received, this was sometimes a criticized element of Wednesday season 1. Guzmán suggests that the series will reverse course for next season, though he does not specify the exact nature of their return. The Addams family is briefly seen in the Wednesday season 2 trailer, which shows them dropping Wednesday off at Nevermore. This leaves a lot of intrigue as to what their storyline will be in the season.
Our Take On Including The Addams Family In Wednesday Season 2
This Choice Makes Sense For Season 1
Season 2 is the best time for Wednesday to re-explore storylines relating to other classic Addams Family characters, as the show has already established its ing cast. Audiences already know characters like Enid, Tyler, or Bianca, so they will not need to have a huge expositional lead-up to establish such figures. This will give more time to explore the characters the audiences have known and loved for years, but in the reimagined context of the spinoff series.

Netflix’s Addams Family series takes place at Nevermore Academy, a school that nurtures outcasts, freaks, and monsters. The Tim Burton-directed series follows Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as she tries to master her emerging psychic powers and solve the supernatural mystery surrounding her family history.
