Netflix's Wednesday ended its first season with numerous pressing questions left to be answered. While the students at Nevermore, led by Wednesday Addams, were able to neutralize the monster and thwart the plan to eradicate all the outcasts at the school, season 1 still left plenty of loose threads for audiences to ponder.

The series marks the latest twist on the Addams Family franchise. This time focused on mysterious, all-things-morbid daughter Wednesday. ed by performances by Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Luis Guzman as Gomez, Jenna Ortega's depiction of Wednesday Addams has captivated viewers and earned critical acclaim. Before season 1 ended, it set up several mysteries to be addressed by a potential season 2.

Who Is Wednesday's Stalker?

In what will seemingly be season 2's primary conflict, Wednesday will contend with a new stalker. After unmasking Tyler as the monster, all appeared back to normal at Nevermore — or, at least, as normal as things can be at a school for outcasts with powers. However, just as Wednesday was due to depart Nevermore for semester break, she received a series of texts from an unknown number implying that she was being stalked. Intrigued rather than terrified, Wednesday appeared excited to pursue the new mystery.

In of who her stalker may be, audiences are meant to sit with the ambiguity. The only person it seemingly can't be is Tyler, who was shown chained and barely conscious at almost the exact moment Wednesday received the text. It probably isn't Xavier, as he appeared in one of the stalker's photos. The stalker is most likely an outcast in Nevermore's community, as one of the photos was taken inside Nevermore and an outcast — or rather, a normie — would stand out.

However, of all the known of Nevermore Academy, none seem to have a compelling reason to want Wednesday dead: Enid and Eugene are her best friends, Xavier and Ajax are also close friends and even Wednesday and Bianca appeared to have struck some sort of love-hate friendship. More likely, the stalker is someone whom audiences either haven't met or who was able to blend into obscurity during season 1.

Will Wednesday Return To Nevermore?

Wednesday: Nevermore students

One of Wednesday's most profound changes in season 1 revolved around her presence at Nevermore. Initially intent on escaping, Wednesday was genuinely sad when she was expelled. While this expulsion may not have been lifted in light of the more pressing issue of rebuilding Nevermore, it stands to reason that Wednesday will nonetheless be welcomed back if she chooses to return.

At the end of Wednesday season 1, after giving Wednesday her new phone, Xavier asked whether she would be coming back, to which Wednesday offered no verbal or non-verbal indication. However, given both the friendships she made and the fact that her stalker is ostensibly a member of the Nevermore/Jericho community, Wednesday will almost certainly be back at Nevermore when the new term begins.

Will Tyler Escape Custody?

In one of season 1's last shots, a heavily-chained Tyler was being transported in a prison van headed toward Nevermore. Suddenly, seemingly against Tyler's efforts, Tyler began transforming into the Hyde. Given that the Hyde demonstrated extraordinary strength in its kills, it is plausible that the normie standards of containment will fail. Perhaps that is why the prison van was headed toward Nevermore — sometime during its storied past, the school may have found itself needing more extraordinary methods of restraint.

If Tyler did elude justice in season 2, it would incite a manhunt that would almost inevitably end at Nevermore, where so many of Tyler's enemies live. Tyler, a monster masquerading as a normie, came to despise the outcasts at Nevermore. Alternatively, if the prison van was headed to Nevermore, Tyler may be imprisoned in the school. This theory, of course, is wildly speculative, but Nevermore does seem like the kind of school that would have a dungeon.

Will Bianca Leave Nevermore?

In episode 5, Bianca's mother arrived to extort Bianca into leaving Nevermore to aid in Morning Song's recruiting efforts. Having escaped the cult, Bianca insisted that she at least be allowed to remain until the end of the school year. Her mother agreed but warned that if Bianca resisted, she would tell everyone exactly how Bianca gained entry to Nevermore.

Having played a crucial role in the battle for Nevermore's existence, Bianca cemented herself as one of the school's most important students. Despite the implication that Bianca gained entry into the school by using her siren song, she has proven her aptitude and courage many times. Further, her bright, conniving disposition is a perfect foil to the unsmiling Wednesday. While it was unclear where Bianca would land during Nevermore's brief closure, Bianca demonstrated her indispensability to the school. Furthermore, as Wednesday's primary competition, Nevermore would be much duller without Bianca.

Who Will Replace Principal Weems?

Principal Weems smiles covered in blood in Wednesday

Principal Weems, who spent the majority of season 1 acting as an obstacle to Wednesday's vigorous hunt for the monster, died at the hands of Marilyn Thornhill, A.K.A. Laurel Gates. In the end, Weems proved that she was not intentionally impeding Wednesday but clashed with the grim student due to Weems's devotion to the school and its students. Her replacement will be important to the show as, given that Wednesday's activities and disposition often put her on a crash course with authority, Nevermore's new principal will undoubtedly need to contend with Wednesday's insolence and penchant for sneaking off-campus.

Conceivably, Nevermore's new principal will be an alum of the school — such as former queen bee Morticia Addams — or will at least possess supernatural abilities. Given that Weems's shapeshifting powers played a small but vital role in season 1, it will be interesting to learn how the new principal's gifts will aid or obstruct Wednesday in her season 2 pursuits. The new principal will also need to address the fallout of season 1's events with the town of Jericho and the wealthy Nevermore benefactors and parents. Unlike Morticia and Gomez, not all parents will be thrilled that their children were nearly killed at school.

What Will Happen To Laurel Gates?

Marilyn smiles by an archway in Wednesday

Laurel Gates, who concealed her true identity by adopting the pseudonym Marilyn Thornhill, turned out to be the Hyde's handler. She resurrected outcast-hating Joseph Crackstone and attempted to fulfill her family's quest to eradicate outcasts. She failed, but the would-be killer — played by former Wednesday Addams actress Christina Ricci — could be crucial to the primary conflict in season 2. When Laurel was last seen, Eugene had neutralized her with his bees, and Wednesday delivered a knockout stomp to Laurel's face.

Few people hate Wednesday with such intense fury as Laurel, and even if she isn't the stalker, Laurel has a vested interest in the stalker's apparent goal of killing Wednesday. For Laurel, the defeat in season 1 will do little to assuage her devotion to her generational quest to kill outcasts. For Laurel, the demise of her own family is directly linked to the prosperity of outcasts and Nevermore. Since tensions between the school and Jericho will be at an all-time high, Laurel can still foment insurrection from behind bars. In Wednesday season 2, audiences may be treated to a town-versus-gown dynamic made all the more intense and sinister by the supernatural forces at play.
