Not much is known about Wes Anderson's next movie, Asteroid City, but fans can assume that it will give them more of his signature color and whimsy. Part of what gives his most notable works their unique feel, from T, are the memorable costumes worn by his characters.

Fans may disagree which iconic look is most memorable, with characters and clothing like Max Fisher's school uniform and Sam's scouting costume all having fans, but they all make Anderson's movies undoubtedly his own.

Max Fisher

After Wes Anderson's feature-length debut with Bottle Rocket, his second movie would help to cement him as one of the most celebrated auteur filmmakers in recent memory. Released in 1998, Rushmore follows the eccentric teenager Max Fisher as he befriends and falls for two unlikely people.

Matching his eccentricity, the costume designer of the movie, Karen Patch, was able to create an iconic look for the character that was used for the movie's posters and the quirky costume design has become one of Wes Anderson's trademarks. As well as working for other directors, this would not be her only collaboration with Anderson.

Steve Zissou

A homage to Jacques Cousteau, a famed French diver, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is Anderson's 4th movie that saw Bill Murray as Zissou, who attempts to avenge his partner who got attacked by a shark. Leading an all-star cast, the movie starred other iconic actors like Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston, and William Defoe

While most of the actors wear a similar red and blue uniform as part of Zissou's crew, Bill Murray just sports the attire really well. Murray's comedic character and delivery blends well with the outfit's bright, almost cartoonish colors.

Margot Helen Tenenbaum

Seen by many as one of Wes Anderson's best movies, The Royal Tenenbaums follows an eccentric and distant family as they gather together after Gene Hackman's Royal Tenenbaum has a terminal illness. Or at least, that's what he has told them in order to reconnect with his family.

While the list could be easily made up of costumes exclusively from this movie, one of the standouts was Margot Helen Tenenbaum played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Wearing a fur coat over her striped dress, this simple attire is a stand out among the many costumes featured in his movies and was another brilliant design from Karen Patch.

The Chief Steward

The Chief Steward stands in a hallway in The Darjeeling Unlimited.

Taking place in India, The Darjeeling Limited follows three brothers as they reunite a year after their father's funeral and ride a renowned luxury train across the country. While they all try to reconnect on a spiritual journey, they also try to look for their mom who has been absent for years.

When it comes to the costume designs from the movie, easily one of the standouts is Waris Ahluwalia's The Chief Steward. Proudly wearing a turquoise outfit, the character's strict protocol while managing the staff on his train only makes the contradiction between the bright colors and his nature more memorable.

Chas Tenenbaum

One of several memorable characters from The Royal Tenenbaums is Chas Tenenbaum. One of the sons of Hackman's Royal Tenenbaum, Chas becomes a protective father over his two sons after his wife and their mother died in a plane crash.

In the majority of the movie, Chas is seen sporting a red Addidas tracksuit along with his two sons. With such bright clothes standing out from a lot of the backgrounds filmed across New York City, this has only made the character more memorable since the movie's release in 2001.

Tracy Walker

Anderson's second animated feature-length movie, Isle of Dogs, is also one of his most bizarre. After dogs have become banned from the city and moved to Trash Island due to an infectious canine disease, an ambitious boy attempts to find his pet and uncover the secrets behind this newfound disease.

One of the stand-out human characters is an exchange student from America named Tracy Walker who tries to uncover a conspiracy about the dogs that also became one of Greta Gerwig's best film roles. Proudly wearing her Japanese school outfit and massive blonde afro, her character design stands out even in a movie filled with unique designs.

Zero Moustafa

Nominated for 9 Academy Awards in 2015, The Grand Budapest Hotel saw the famed director team up with some familiar actors who he previously worked with as well as some new collaborations. Leading an ensemble cast, Ralph Fiennes plays a concierge of a famed hotel in Europe who unexpectedly gets involved with the murder of one of his guests.

Playing as the new lobby boy, Zero Moustafa gets involved with his boss' antics. With his purple outfit and small pencil mustache, the character's design has become so iconic and recognizable that the costume was showcased as part of a museum exhibition along with the original model of the hotel in Los Angeles a few years ago.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Mr Fox leaning against a tree in Fantastic Mr Fox

Anderson's first foray into animation, Fantastic Mr. Fox was based on the popular Roald Dahl children's book of the same name that also became one of the best stop motion movies of all time. Trying to steal food from three vicious farmers, he gets caught in a war between them while using his cunning skills to get the upper hand on them.

While the title character is seen wearing a shirt and pajamas in the movie, his best is easily the corduroy suit he wears. Giving the character a very sleek costume, the yellow shirt underneath just adds to the design perfectly.

J.K.L. Berensen

Tilda Swinton with her hand on her hip in The French Dispatch

The French Dispatch is Anderson's most recent movie and enjoyed a theatrical release last year that made fans happy to see his work back on the big screen. Set in 20th century , the movie tells three stories that are connected to a fictional magazine before its final issue is published.

Among the brown, black, and white costumes featured on the poster, J.K.L. Berensen's bright orange outfit shined and made Tilda Swinton's character one of the most glamorous costume designs on the list. And with her gold jewelry and bright brown hair, the combination really helps to make her one of the best-dressed characters in The French Dispatch.

Sam Shakusky

Suzy and Sam in Moonrise Kingdom.

Released in 2012, Moonrise Kingdom starred Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, and Edward Norton as they look for two children who escaped from their scouts and guardians respectively. The Penpals finally meet and decide to live by the beach while the adults are on a hot pursuit on their trail.

Sam Shakusky's costume is easily one of the best designs in Wes Anderson's movies. His badges, accessories, and colors really make it stand out from amongst the movie's wardrobe. The costume even became a well-known couple's outfit for Halloween and fancy dress parties as people dressed and celebrated the young couple from the movie.
