Abby Lee Miller's life has turned out better than expected since the conclusion of Abby's role was to teach her students to be more professional and employable working dancers. Her frank demeanor was a major reason many viewers enjoyed watching her interactions with the children and their mothers.

Most fans would that Abby had to use a wheelchair in the last few seasons. In April 2018, she underwent emergency surgery to address a spinal infection, which doctors later diagnosed as a rare but aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma known as Burkitt lymphoma. The complex spinal surgery resulted in paralysis in Abby's body, causing her to rely on a wheelchair.

In an Instagram post from 2022, Abby said, "Over the next 24 hours my blood pressure dropped to 23 over 17, my Kidneys started to fail, and I became paralyzed from the Neck down."

In the years since, she has been devoted to her recovery and therapy, although she remains in a wheelchair. Despite her paralysis, the Dance Moms star continued to teach children.

Abby faced legal trouble in the past, with her being involved in bankruptcy fraud in 2015. Justice.Gov reported that as a result, she served a sentence of one year and a day in prison until her release in 2018. Additionally, she was placed on two years of supervised release and had to pay a $40,000 fine. However, recent updates suggest that Abby is now clear of any legal issues, suggesting that she may have learned from her past experiences. It's also possible that facing such a serious health crisis has prompted her to focus on her future.

Abby has dedicated her new recent chapter to her YouTube channel, boasting 824k subscribers and filled with her Abby Lee Dance With Me videos. Her Instagram has also been hit with over 4.6 million followers. Abby posts videos of herself and her students in addition to sharing personal updates and announcements. In April 2025, Abby endorsed "Leave It On The Dance Floor Live," and urged her fans to snag tickets. She revealed plans to be in Omaha on May 3 for her "first-ever LIVE SHOW" for her podcast. Dance Moms alum is excited about her great future.
