After 15 incredibly successful seasons, Tanked, in 2018. For over 150 episodes, viewers got an inside look at Acrylic Tank Manufacturing (ATM), a Las Vegas-based company that designs and builds extravagant aquariums for celebrities, businesses, and wealthy clientele. While the over-the-top fish tanks and celebrity guests drew viewers in, it was the dynamic cast that made the show so popular. Viewers couldn't get enough of Wayde King, Brett Raymer, Irwin "The General" Raymer, and Heather King, whose hilarious personalities and ion for fish kept audiences entertained.

While fans were surprised by the sudden cancelation, the writing had been on the wall for some time. Yes, the show's ratings had been declining for a few seasons; however, viewers suspected the series' end had more to do with major controversies involving two of the stars' personal lives.

On March 6, 2019, Tanked star Heather King was arrested at her home in Las Vegas after a violent altercation with her husband, Wayde King, who is also one of the main cast . According to TMZ, who broke the story, Heather "allegedly slapped her husband in the face and kicked him in the stomach twice during a heated argument." Wayde also told the police that Heather drove their car away while he was hanging out of the window and had marks on his stomach to prove it.

Two days later, Heather filed for divorce from Wayde (via TMZ). The following year, Heather filed for a protective order against her estranged husband, claiming that she feared for her life and that her husband had been physically abusive toward her for years.

Nine days after Heather's arrest, Animal Planet announced that Tanked was being canceled after 15 seasons. The network claimed the decision was unrelated to the domestic disturbance incident that had occurred the previous week. While the network didn't elaborate on why the show was ending, Paul Schur, the VP of Communications, told Deadline, "After 15 fantastic seasons, the series came to a natural end late last year."

The decision to cancel the show had been made months before the arrest.

While the timing was certainly suspect — and it would have been incredibly awkward to continue the series given how family-centric it was — it has never been confirmed that Heather's arrest played a role in the cancelation. In fact, TMZ reported that production sources told the outlet the decision to cancel the show had been made months before the arrest. However, Heather's arrest likely prompted the network to announce the cancelation sooner than planned.

Acrylic Tank Manufacturing eventually closed due to financial reasons related to the cancelation of the show. Wayde also reportedly had a fallout with his partner and close friend Brett Raymer. Wayde remains involved in the custom aquarium industry, deg and building unique tanks for clients worldwide.

Heather stays active on social media, regularly posting pictures of her family and personal life. She resides in Las Vegas, and according to her Instagram, her life is focused on her family. In January 2024, Heather appeared on the Heroes Journey podcast, where she revealed many details about the making of Tanked. She claimed that, like many reality shows, much of the content was fabricated, with relationships and situations heightened for entertainment purposes. She also shared more about her abuse allegations against her ex-husband, Wayde's alleged substance abuse issues, and said she was often scared for her life during their marriage.
