While the over-the-top fish tanks and celebrity guests drew viewers in, it was the dynamic cast that made the show so popular. Wayde also told the police that Heather drove their car away while he was hanging out of the window and had marks on his stomach to prove it.

Nine days after Heather's arrest, Animal Planet announced that Tanked was being canceled after 15 seasons. The network claimed the decision was unrelated to the domestic disturbance incident that had occurred the previous week. While the network didn't elaborate on why the show was ending, Paul Schur, the VP of Communications, told Deadline, "After 15 fantastic seasons, the series came to a natural end late last year."

The decision to cancel the show had been made months before the arrest.

While the timing was certainly suspect — and it would have been incredibly awkward to continue the series given how family-centric it was — it has never been confirmed that Heather's arrest played a role in the cancelation. In fact, TMZ reported that production sources told the outlet the decision to cancel the show had been made months before the arrest. However, Heather's arrest likely prompted the network to announce the cancelation sooner than planned.
