Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 is covering both TV shows and movies, and after three live-action TV shows and two movies, viewers are now enjoying an animated TV series, very different from what the MCU has done so far, in What If…?.
Doctor Strange becoming evil, and the world being taken over zombies thanks to a quantum virus. What If…? episode 6 toned it down a bit after the Marvel Zombies episode and was all about Killmonger, Tony Stark, and Wakanda.
Episode 6 explored what would have happened in the MCU if Killmonger (voiced by Michael B. Jordan) had saved Iron Man movie, resulting in them working together to create a humanoid drone and a drone army made of vibranium, but Killmonger had some plans of his own that involved a lot of chaos just so he could take back his rightful place as ruler of Wakanda. This episode also reunited fans with Shuri, T’Challa’s sister and, reportedly, the most intelligent character in the MCU, who in the movies has been played by Letitia Wright, but in What If…?, Shuri is played by Ozioma Akagha.
Ozioma Akagha has appeared in various TV shows in cameo or minor roles, most notably Nashville and 2 Broke Girls, as well as in a couple of short films. Akagha is no stranger to voice roles, as she has lent her voice to a variety of characters in video games, such as Plastic in the Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst; Barbara Casey, Zena Woodard, and Angela Cummings in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus; Alyx Vance in Half-Life: Alyx; Dorka, Kirina, and Risis in Exos Heroes; and Willow in Grounded. On TV, Akagha has voiced Bumblebee in the animated TV series Teen Titans Go!, but her most notable roles to date are those of Tamar in the TV series Runaways and Harper Omereoha in the drama series Delilah. Following her role as Shuri in What If…?, Akagha will voice Flora Flamingo in the TV series Do, Re, & Mi, to be released on Amazon Prime Video.
Letitia Wright s the list of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and with the MCU in constant expansion, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Ozioma Akagha could return in a different role at some point.
