Already one of the best the fate of Silo 17 seems pretty obvious at first glance, Solo's ongoing presence suggests something is amiss. His obsession with returning to the vault is one thing, but his cryptic exchange with Juliette in Silo 17's classroom makes him even more of an enigma than he already is. However, from context, his comments could reveal much about his history.

While seeking out somewhere to scrawl her design blueprints, Juliette is led to a chalkboard in a long-abandoned classroom in Silo 17. Speaking almost absentmindedly and more to himself than Juliette, Solo chronicles his history with the room, but more specifically with a bag and its former owner. He is speaking nostalgically, and it certainly sounds like the memory is from before the Revolution that resulted in the death of his former fellow Silo 17 occupants.

Until this scene, Solo has shared almost nothing about his life other than what is immediately obvious. In short, whatever Juliette can see and work out from context, that's all the audience knows too. Instead, Zahn's character seems content to talk about other subjects from the Before Times, like the circus and classic literature. His time in the vault has clearly made him lonely, but it took Juliette to show up for him to realize that. As such, he has quickly become something of a chatterbox, but it wasn't until "Harmonium" that he finally provided a glimpse of his past.

Always with an eye for detail, Juliette quickly latches on to the inconsistencies in Solo's story. Running the numbers in her mind, Ferguson's character realizes that the student Solo is talking about would only have been around 10 when the Rebellion broke out and everyone died. So, Solo sitting next to her in the classroom raises some interesting questions about how long he has actually been alone. Solo's skittishness when pushed on this suggests he has said something that could lead to a reveal he never intended Juliette to discover.

Juliette's follow-up question about Solo's eye is met with similar evasiveness, which means her quick mind could be connecting the dots between Solo's mysterious injury and his connection to the classroom.

What Solo Could Be Hiding From Juliette

Silo 17's Revolution could have been much longer ago than initially assumed

Although Solo could be telling the truth about his ruminations being only vaguely inspired by his surroundings, it's more likely that he let his guard down and overshared. If so, then there are two main theories about what his accidentally-revealed timeline could mean. The first is that the Revolution perhaps wasn't as long as ago as it initially seems, and that Solo was a teacher with fond memories of one of his students. This would explain how he knew Lapis' mother would "jar peach preserves," which doesn't seem like the kind of detail a younger mind would latch onto.

The other theory is that the Revolution was a very long time ago, and Solo's story about Lapis is genuine. If this is the case, then Solo could have been Lapis' classmate, and therefore the same age as her when the Rebellion broke out. This would mean Solo has been alone in his vault for decades and has been since he was a child. This would explain his child-like demeanor, as socializing with adults isn't something he's ever been able to do. Thankfully, the rest of Silo season 2 is surely to reveal all.
