EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #266, the February 6th Wordle answer is available now.
March 12th brings another Wordle puzzle for fans of the series, and although this one is a much more common word, some people may need a hint or two. Wordle is a word guessing game that grew in popularity at the beginning of 2022. Each day players have six chances to guess a single five-letter word, this word is the same for all players and resets at midnight based on the players timezone.
Wordle is played on a 5x6 grid of boxes and players need to start with a random five-letter word. Based on this word the game gives clues to help guide the player to the correct answer. If a box is highlighted in green then the letter is in the winning word and in the correct position. Yellow boxes indicate that the letter is correct but incorrectly placed, and finally if the box is grey the letter does not appear in the word at all. Using this information players have six chances to adjust their answers and find the right word. In a normal game, any word can be used at any time, but Wordle also has a 'Hard Mode' that can be turned on in the options menu to force players into using the colored clues from past guesses. This requires a bit more critical thinking but can lead to better overall stats.

When a player has finished their game they will be given the option to share their journey through social media. Using small colored emoji boxes, Wordle shows off each of the player's attempts without spoiling the actual words guessed. This feature has led to more and more players ing the game and adds a bit of competitiveness to Wordle. Every day it seems social media timelines are filled with these ambiguous boxes showing off players' wins, and losses.

Wordle 266 Answer (March 12)
If the clues didn't give it away, today's Wordle answer is TODAY. For our March 12th starting word we used IRATE, which provided us an 'A' and a 'T' in the incorrect positions. The second guess was TABOO which solidified the correct placement for 'T' and gave us another incorrect letter in 'O'. Finally, we got lucky with the correct answer TODAY, giving us victory in three. Not the most difficult of words to get correct as long as there is a strong starting word used.
