EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #505; the November 7th Wordle answer is available now.

November 6th brings a new Wordle word and today's answer could certainly get players in a guessing loop if they're not careful. Despite the simple gameplay of Wordle, there are many times when certain letters create too many options to choose from for the subsequent guesses. Since there are only six possible guesses in a normal game, they can easily be wasted with incorrect answers that seem to fit.

Five-letter Wordle words that end in 'ING' is a great example, there are just too many options to choose from. This is where players can get caught up in the guessing loop. For those players who are having trouble though, here are some hints for today's answer.

  • Hint 1: None of the letters repeat in today's Wordle.
  • Hint 2: This word is often used to describe something not so fresh.
  • Hint 3: One of the more quiet and melancholic K.K. Slider songs from the video game Animal Crossing is entitled "_____ Cupcakes."

Today's Wordle Answer (November 5th #504)

Wordle 505 November 6 Attempt

The November 6th Wordle answer is STALE.

As shown in the image above we barely squeaked out a win on this one, mostly due to the numerous options available from our clues. We began today's Wordle with our best starting word, IRATE. This felt like a perfect start since both major vowels were shown in their correct locations and on stray 'T' was incorrect. Moving the 'T' around we tried THANE as our second word. This didn't offer any extra letters but did guarantee the location of the 'T' for future guesses.

Our third try was STAGE which provided the first letter and started the journey of too many choices. Including STAGE, there are eight possible answers for 'STA_E' and we needed to figure out the correct one in three guesses. Our fourth try was STAKE which proved to be incorrect. Taking into the letters that had already been proven incorrect, and that the 'T' is not repeating, we were down to three choices; STALE, STAVE, and STADE. Luckily, we nailed it with STALE and scored a Wordle win-in-five to keep our streak alive.
