Warning: Includes SPOILERS for The Wheel of Time season 3's ending and for the Wheel of Time books!

Amazon Prime's Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books, and she's been the most outstanding addition to the TV series since being introduced in season 2. As an Accepted of the Aes Sedai, Elayne is eventually going to need a Warder like Moiraine or Alanna, and season 2's ending with Mat blowing the Horn of Valere sets one up for her.

Elayne's storyline in season 3 took her to Tanchico, keeping largely consistent with her narrative from The Shadow Rising. She spent most of her time with Nynaeve pursuing the Black Ajah, but the narrative also allowed her to reunite with Thom Merrilin, who was the court bard in Caemlyn, the capital of her mother's kingdom, when she was growing up. Thom revealed grave news to her that the audience already knew: Lord Gaebril is the Forsaken Rahvin in disguise. This will likely lead Elayne to depart from Nynaeve in season 4.

Birgitte Silverbow Becomes Elayne's Warder In The Wheel Of Time Books

Birgitte Is One Of The Heroes Of The Horn

Birgitte Silverbow was introduced in The Wheel of Time season 2's finale when Mat blew the Horn of Valere. Along with Artur Hawkwing and the others, Birgitte is one of the legendary Heroes of the Horn, and we saw her in the background, played by actress Sona Havranova. In the books, Birgitte Silverbow initially shows up again during Nynaeve and Elayne's hunt for the Black Ajah, though she only appears in Tel'aran'rhiod at first. This occurs in The Shadow Rising in the books, though it could have been saved for season 4 in the TV series.

Wheel Of Time Season 3's Villain Cameo Is Another Sign This Forsaken Is About To Appear

A very subtle cameo hint in The Wheel of Time season 3 set up one of the main villains in the series, potentially for season 4's Perrin story.

In the book, Birgitte s the two young women in their confrontation with Moghedien, who expels her from Tel'aran'rhiod into the physical realm. Nynaeve and Elayne find her later on, mortally wounded beyond Nynaeve's power, and the only way to save her was for Elayne to bond her as her Warder. This was a notable development, as Aes Sedai Warders are traditionally male.

Thom's Rahvin Reveal Means Wheel Of Time May Change Elayne's Birgitte Silverbow Story

Elayne Might Be Heading To Andor Rather Than Salidar

Thom Merrilin's reveal in The Wheel of Time season 3 will likely push Elayne off track, bringing her back to Andor in an attempt to defeat Rahvin and save her mother. This should allow her to reconnect with Rand and potentially Aviendha, depending on where the TV show guides their narratives. The show introduced Queen Morgase Trakand earlier in season 3, and The Fires of Heaven is focused on Rahvin's manipulation to take power in Andor, which will likely make him the primary antagonist for season 4.

If Elayne directly returns to Caemlyn, it's going to be tricky to integrate this new character.

In The Fires of Heaven, Elayne isn't with Rand, at least not physically. She remains with Nynaeve, finding the rebel Aes Sedai camp in Salidar, who are regrouping after Elaida captured the White Tower. She and Nynaeve continue to pursue Moghedien in Tel'aran'rhiod, which would have allowed the show more opportunities to introduce Birgitte Silverbow. If Elayne directly returns to Caemlyn, it's going to be tricky to integrate this new character.

As of 5/12/2025, Amazon Prime has yet to confirm The Wheel of Time's season 4 renewal.

The Wheel of Time series has made a habit of omitting book characters, and while I wouldn't be surprised if Birgitte remained nothing more than a background Hero of the Horn, it's not impossible for her to still be introduced. First, Elayne could still stay with Nynaeve in the show, as their narrative ends up helping Rand defeat Rahvin, even if they aren't there in person.

Wheel Of Time Season 3's Ending Sets Up A Completely Different Battle Over Callandor

The Wheel of Time series changes a lot from the books, and the ending of season 3 sets up what might be a very different quest for the Dragon Reborn.

The introduction of Birgitte Silverbow could also still technically happen due to Tel'aran'rhiod. Elayne and Nynaeve can still help one another in the dream world, even if they're off doing different things. Season 3 demonstrated characters interacting from across the world through the use of Tel'aran'rhiod, and if Prime Video's The Wheel of Time drops Elayne into a separate plotline, she can link the two Forsaken antagonist stories through dreams.
