Summary

  • Moghedien is considered the weakest Forsaken, but her ability to control the dream world makes her a major threat.
  • Graendal may lack raw channeling ability, but her skill in combative weaves and her angreal make her dangerous.
  • Ishamael is the most powerful and influential Forsaken, serving as the Dark One's right-hand man and leader of the group.

Throughout Prime Video's The Wheel of Time books, by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, there are 13 Forsaken, all of whom stand in the way of Rand defeating the Dark One. However, in the television adaptation, there seem to be about eight Forsaken, including Ishamael and Lanfear.

In order to properly rank ability to use the One Power, though many of them have other strengths or weaknesses.

13 Moghedien

13 Out Of 13

Of the 13 Forsaken that served the Dark One, Moghedien is considered the weakest at channeling the One Power. Despite this, Moghedien is still one of the strongest channelers in The Wheel of Time world, which is why she became a Forsaken. What Moghedien lacks in channeling skills, she makes up for in her ability to control the dream world, Tel'aran'rhiod. While Lanfear is known for her abilities to manipulate Tel'aran'rhiod, Moghedien is ultimately the best at it. She has the ability to enter Tel'aran'rhiod in her sleep, can manipulate other people's forms within the dream world, and can control others' dreams. Ultimately, this makes Moghedien a major threat.

12 Graendal

12 Out Of 13

Like Moghedien, Graendel is another Forsaken that lacks raw channeling ability. When it comes to the One Power, Graendel is far from the most powerful. But, once again, she makes up for this weakness in other areas. For example, Graendel is particularly skilled at making combative weaves. Furthermore, she carries an angreal, which allows her to channel more One Power than she would be able to on her own. Though her angreal is not as powerful as those of the other Forsaken, it still makes Graendel a danger to others. Her beautiful appearance also increases her threat level.

11 Mesaana

11 Out Of 13

Mesaana Wheel of ZZTime

A Forsaken with a bit more luck with the One Power is Mesaana. Though she has quite a lot of access to the One Power, Mesaana is considered less powerful because of her lack of precision and accuracy. While she can summon impressive amount of energy, she struggles to form strong weaves, and her dexterity is weaker than others. Additionally, Mesaana's thoughts and feelings often got in the way of her executing any major plans. Though she was able to manipulate many people, her own anger at not being at the forefront of the Dark One's cause hurt more than it helped her.

10 Semirhage

10 Out Of 13

Semirhage Wheel of Time

The second strongest female member of the Forsaken, based on access to the One Power, is Semirhage. Though she does not have the same influence as Lanfear, she has the most raw strength when it comes to channeling. Furthermore, like other Forsaken, Semirhage has special talents that make her more powerful. In particular, Semirhage has thorough knowledge of the human body and torture techniques because of her past as a Healer, and combined with her ability to do intricate weavings, makes her the biggest threat out of all the female Forsaken. Semirhage's sadistic personality also increases her threat level.

9 Lanfear

9 Out Of 13

Though Lanfear is considered one of the most prominent Forsaken of the 13, and is the strongest female Forsaken, both in The Wheel of Time books and television series, her actual access to the One Power is not as high as it might seem. One aspect of this misconception is Lanfear's angreal, which was so powerful that it very nearly qualified as a sa'angreal. On top of that, Lanfear's sheer confidence and manipulation abilities helped boost her to a status that far outweighed her actual ability. Ultimately, Lanfear's plans to trick Rand made her a much bigger threat than her access to the One Power did.

8 Be'lal

8 Out Of 13

Be'lal Wheel of Time

The weakest male Forsaken in of the One Power is Be'lal. Not much is actually known about Be'lal abilties, only that his access to the One Power is the lowest in comparison to the other male Forsaken. Plus, compared to the female Forsaken, Be'lal is lacking in special abilties or skills, despite his channeling strength. Another detail that likely adds to Be'lal's status as the weakest is his jealousy. He is often portrayed as being highly jealous of Ishamael and Lanfear's infleunce. In particular, he resents Lanfear's power because she has less access to the One Power than him.

7 Asmodean

7 Out Of 13

An illustration of Asmodean playing a harp in The Wheel Of Time.

Though he possesses more access to the One Power than Be'lal, Asmodean is often considered the weakest of the male Forsaken. While Asmodean is moderately powerful, his personality often prevents him from being a true menace to society. For example, Asmodean has a greater ion for the arts than for physical or violent pursuits. Asmodean also lacks precision in his channeling, which makes him less of a danger. Despite these flaws though, Asmodean is technically the seventh most powerful of the 13 Forsaken.

6 Balthamel

6 Out Of 13

The next most powerful Forsaken is Balthamel. Often paired with Aginor, Balthamel has quite a bit of strength when it comes to the One Power, but once again, has other desires. For example, Balthamel was once a historian studying vanishing cultures. In general, Balthamel is more skilled at sneaking around and espionage than he is in actual face-to-face combat. Overall, Balthamel's biggest strength is his dark mind. The Forsaken committed various atrocities before the Collapse as a member of the Chosen.

5 Aginor

5 Out Of 13

An illustration of Aginor from The Wheel of Time frowning.

Yet again, Aginor is an incredibly powerful Forsaken who falls low when it comes to influence and the Forsaken pecking order. Despite Aginor's strength in the One Power, he has an obedient attitude that leaves him seeming inferior to the rest of his peers. In fact, Aginor itted to being terrified of Ishamael, and often does whatever he is told to do. Aginor's lack of aptitude when it comes to combat and strategy paired with his subservient personality makes him a Forsaken of lesser importance, despite his outstanding strength.

4 Sammael

4 Out Of 13

An illustration of Sammael from The Wheel of Time.

The final most powerful Forsaken are those with the most strength in the One Power, including Sammael. Sammael is the fourth most powerful Forsaken. Additionally, he shows great talent at tactics and forming complex schemes. However, Sammael's plan did not always work out in his favor. Other of the Forsaken felt that Sammael's schemes were too obvious, and noted that they rarely worked when put into motion. Furthermore, Sammael's plans often included the Forsaken going on the defensive. Overall, this lessened the influence of Sammael's incredible power.
