Warning: This contains SPOILERS for Black Adam!
Henry Cavill's Superman returns alone in Black Adam's post-credits scene fixes this by bringing Henry Cavill back. It marks the first full appearance by Superman since Justice League five years ago, as the character has instead had two faceless cameos during that time. Superman has now been pushed right back into the spotlight thanks to his encounter with Black Adam, but it also creates a strange question about why the Man of Steel is not ed by the Justice League.
The lack of a full Justice League team ing Superman in Black Adam is incredibly strange. The movie makes it quite clear just how powerful Dwayne Johnson's DC anti-hero is. He is shown to be strong enough to take on the Justice Society by himself, so even Superman could arguably use the backup and . Even if some might not be all that useful in fighting Black Adam, the Justice League showing up alongside Henry Cavill's Superman return would have been a strong showing of solidarity that they will stop him if they must. Instead, the full responsibility is put on Superman's shoulders.
Why The Justice League Isn't In Black Adam's Superman Scene
There are arguably two main reasons that the entire Justice League team is not in Black Adam's Superman scene. For starters, heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash would not be able to stop Black Adam without Superman's help. In that regard, Superman is the key to stopping Black Adam and the most important member to be there. There is also the chance that Waller only asked Superman to come because of his power and not wanting to risk another incident with Black Adam. There is no doubt that Black Adam is a Justice League-level threat in the right situation, but Superman may have been sent to deescalate the moment.
On top of the canonical explanation for the Justice League heroes not being in Black Adam's post-credits scene, there is also the real world to factor in. The scene is meant to be a grand moment that welcomes Henry Cavill's Superman back into the DCEU. Having the other Justice League appear alongside him could have been cool, but it would also potentially take the spotlight away from him. Furthermore, arranging for Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher to each have cameos is a much bigger challenge than just Henry Cavill - even without factoring in some of their uncertain DCEU futures.
Will Black Adam Fight Or The DCEU's Justice League?
Now that Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is firmly established in the DCEU and has a relationship with Superman, it might only be a matter of time before he encounters the Justice League. It should be fascinating to see what happens when Black Adam does eventually meet the DCEU's Justice League team, as he could potentially the team or fight them. Black Adam ing the Justice League would officially declare him as a DCEU hero, not an anti-hero, but could be a big way to bolster The Rock's future with the franchise.
However, the idea of Black Adam fighting the Justice League could be an event movie itself that even brings the Justice Society back after Black Adam. Either option is something that will likely be explored at some point in the DCEU's future, as it would foolish to keep Black Adam and the Justice League separated. As a result, Black Adam's Superman scene could be seen as a tease that a meeting with the Justice League is inevitable.
