From 1990 to 2000, ‘90s kids were glued to their televisions watching Beverly Hills, 90210, the iconic teen drama about two teenagers and the group of friends they meet when their parents upend their lives from Minneapolis, MN to move to wealthy Beverly Hills. From the love triangles involving Brandon, Dylan, Kelly, and Brenda, to the girl fights, and tender moments, the series also tackled serious issues like abuse, drugs, and eating disorders. It continued beyond high school, following the young men and women as they ventured out into the real world.
The coming-of-age series has carved out a significant spot in pop culture history. So much so, in fact, that it spawned tons of spin-offs like Melrose Place and 90210, the latter of which ran for five seasons from 2008-2013. Now, the cast will reunite for a sadly ed away earlier this year. But many of the original cast will appear, including Jason Priestley, Jenni Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling. Which got us wondering, what have they all been up to these past 20 years? Here’s a rundown.
Jason Priestley (Brandon Walsh)
Having appeared on the series through its entire run as one of the central characters, Priestley later had a lead role in Call Me Fitz, an HBO Canada half-hour comedy that ran for four seasons from 2010-2013. You can currently see him as the lead in the Canadian comedy-drama Private Eyes, which has been airing on Global since 2016, and premiered in the U.S. last year on Ion Television.
In 2016, he was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame, but it was in 2013 that he was really celebrated as an iconic Canadian talent when Tim Hortons created a new doughnut in his honor called The Priestley.
Shannon Doherty (Brenda Walsh)
Her controversial run on 90210 was cut short following reported friction on set, and Doherty only appeared in the first four seasons of the show. But was she a pivotal character, and the resident villainous gal with an attitude. Following her success on the series, she went on to star in Charmed from 1998-2001, a series that is being rebooted with a new cast.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but is now in remission. Understandably, she has taken a break from acting to focus on her health. But she was last seen in a Heathers television series that was pulled from the network line-up in the wake of the Parkland school shooting.
Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor)
Having starred in series like What I Like About You and her own reality show, Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country, Garth has been somewhat out of the spotlight since playing the blonde high school beauty queen.
She did reprise her role as Kelly Taylor for the season premiere of The CW’s 90210, alongside Doherty and Perry, then returned in the series’ second season. Today, she’s an entrepreneur, selling subscription gift boxes at MomGiftBox.com, with purchases that benefit charities, and launched the Travelling Heart Collection with Dune Jewelry.
Tori Spelling (Donna Martin)
Playing Kelly’s wealthy, innocent, sometimes dimwitted best friend, Spelling made a name for herself in the role, though she was already a wealthy socialite in her own right as the daughter of mega-producer Aaron Spelling (who produced 90210 along with other iconic series). After the series ended, she reprised her role in the spin-off.
Today, she is best known as an author, entrepreneur, and former star of multiple reality series with husband Dean McDermott and their children. She hosts the TV series The Look All Stars and was last revealed as the Unicorn in the celebrity singing competition The Masked Singer that debuted this year.
Brian Austin Green (David Silver)
He started off as the geeky kid who hung around the “cool kids,” then turned into a bona fide hunk, and the love of Donna’s life. Green went on to appear in several series following his run on 90210, including Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Anger Management, and had guest roles in a number of others.
He is married to fellow actor Megan Fox with whom he has three sons (along with another son from his former 90210 castmate Vanessa Marcil), and hosts a podcast called With Brian Austin Green with his friend and producer Derek Russell.
Ian Ziering (Steve Sanders)
Ziering has become as well-known for his starring role in the Sharknado films as he is for playing the resident cocky jock at Beverly Hills High in the series.
In addition to appearing in the cheesy sci-fi disaster film, which released its sixth and final film in 2018, he’s made plenty of reality TV appearances of late, including on Dancing With the Stars (2007), Celebrity Apprentice (2015), and Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition (2018). He also famously performed for a month with Chippendales in Las Vegas as a celebrity guest star.
Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman)
Carteris stepped back from the acting spotlight to take on a starring role behind the scenes as the president of SAG-AFTRA, the trade union representing more than 100,000 actors and other film and television professionals across the U.S.
Prior to that, however, and after her run on 90210 as the nerdy student who secretly (then not-so-secretly) pined for Brandon, she hosted her own talk show, and made appearances in a long list of TV series, both on-screen and through voice-overs, like Touched by an Angel, King of the Hill, and Crossing Jordan. Her last on-screen appearance was in an episode of N.C.I.S. in 2018.
Lindsay Price (Janet Sosna)
She ed the cast in 1998, but was on the series until its end, playing a graphic designer at the Beverly Beat newspaper, and eventual wife of Steve Sanders. She continued acting afterwards, most notably appearing in the short-lived series Lipstick Jungle; and also had a career in music.
Today, she appears as a main cast member on the ABC comedy Splitting Up Together alongside Jenna Fischer, Oliver Hudson, and Bobby Lee, which wrapped up its second season in April 2019.
Tiffani Thiessen (Valerie Malone)
ing the cast as the new catty female villain following Doherty’s departure, Thiessen was a member of the cast from 1994-1998, playing the emotionally troubled old family friend from Minnesota who liked to stir up trouble. Of course, Thiessen is also known for her prior role as Kelly Kapowski in Saved by the Bell.
Following her stint on 90210, she continued her acting career, starring in series like White Collar, as well as in films. Currently, she plays a mom on Netflix sitcom Alexa & Katie, which premiered its second season at the end of 2018.
Vincent Young (Noah Hunter)
On the series from 1997 through to its end in 2000, Noah was a secret rich boy with a troubled family past who fell onto hard times, ending the series as a recovering alcoholic. Young, who portrayed him, made a few television guest appearances after the show wrapped up, but he has mostly been out of the acting scene for some time.
According to the actor’s IMDB page, however, he has several projects in the pre- and post-production stages, so we might be seeing more of him, yet.
