The 2021 reboot of Gossip Girl brought new life into the original teen drama series for a new generation of viewers. While viewers and critics are split about the new version's ability to live up to or even sur the original, most agree that the new, more diverse take on the story offers a welcoming alternate narrative that reflects more modern storytelling.
The new series is set at the same wealthy Manhattan private school as the original show, but with an all-new cast in this shared universe. Featuring teenagers navigating the new world of influencer culture and a refreshed importance of social awareness, the new cast has a series of challenges that differ, but aren't a world away from the complicated social lives of high schoolers. Gossip Girl can now be streamed on HBO Max, which is available as a channel add-on through Prime Video. There's also a 7-day free trial, so fans of the series can check it out.

Where Can I Watch Gossip Girl?
Both seasons of the Gossip Girl sequel series are streaming exclusively on HBO Max. The new, second season began streaming on the platform on December 1st, 2022.
New episodes are dropped on the streaming service every week, at the same time that the episodes air on the CW Channel - the same channel that produced the original series. HBO Max is also available as a Prime Video channel add-on and comes with a free 7-day trial.
Will There Be A Season 3 Of Gossip Girl?
So far, there is no confirmation about the renewal of Gossip Girl for a third season. Given the cancelation of the HBO Max series Minx after only one season, even after season 2 wrapped production, fans cannot be sure of a third season until a new episode is actually broadcast. Due to this uncertainty, news of a third season will likely remain up in the air for at least several months more.
Where Can I Stream The Original Gossip Girl?
Alongside the sequel series, the original Gossip Girl - which ran from 2007 to 2012 - is available to watch on HBO Max. The entire series is available to stream in its six-season entirety and is offered alongside the new show for viewers to watch.
The original and sequel series both share Kristen Bell as the narrator and is described as a "continuation" of the series from the 2000s, rather than a remake. The new show is set in the same universe as the original series, meaning that the fictional characters from the initial series also exist within the reboot. Some actors from the original series, notably Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina Sparks, have reprised their original roles and appeared on both shows.
Why Was Gossip Girl Canceled On Netflix?
Netflix never produced Gossip Girl as an original series, and it was the CW network that ended the series. Netflix did, however, formerly stream the show, leading many to believe it was a Netflix show. The series had resided on the platform for many years and was many fans' first introduction to the show.
In January 2021, Gossip Girl was removed from the platform when HBO Max took over the broadcast of the sequel series, so both shows of the shared universe could be streamed together. The two shows have the same showrunner - TV producer Joshua Safran - and are both based on the original Gossip Girl book series, written by Cecily von Ziegesar.
