Rick and Morty: The Story So Far
After growing its massive mind-bending multiverse, Rick and Morty abridged the scope of it in season five. The Curve and Citadel were destroyed by the Black Hole, and Evil Morty staged his return. The last time viewers saw C-137 Rick and Morty, they were speeding away from the destroyed Citadel. But Rick’s all out of portal juice, so they can’t teleport their way home. Rick and Morty are going to have to find a safe place to land — and even if they do make it back to Earth, there are now a ton of Mortys trapped within the dimension.
Season six will first need to resolve the ramifications from the season five finale. Rick and Morty should figure out whether or not cross-dimensional travel is still a possibility. Hopefully, towards the end of the season, the TV show’s story will revisit the main storyline.
When did Season 6 of Rick and Morty Come Out?
The second part of season four of Rick and Morty ended in May 2020. But after that, season five took some time to arrive — production was delayed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Season five eventually began airing in June 2021, with its 10-episode broadcast wrapping up in September 2021. Ahead of the season five premiere, a sixth season had already been confirmed. It was part of a long-term deal in May 2018, which ordered 70 new episodes for Rick and Morty.
Adult Swim has scheduled season six of Rick and Morty for a 2022 release, as confirmed at the Adult Swim Festival 2021. Season Six finally aired beginning September 4, 2022, on Adult Swim.
