While actor Kevin Sussman only appeared in FBI season 7’s finale, episode 22, "A New Day,” was a typically fast-paced affair that provided the series with some of its most high-stakes drama ever. The plot of "A New Day” saw the anti-government terrorist group Forefront infiltrate the titular organization, killing numerous agents by planting tiny explosives in their cellphones. This resulted in an atmosphere of paranoia throughout the office, with Reynolds accusing Jubal of being Forefront’s mole and Jubal accusing Reynolds of the same. When Reynolds died in one of the blasts, Isobel discovered that Keene was the mole and tricked him into sending Forefront into a trap laid by the FBI team.

Saxton came across Forefront’s plan to attack 26 Fed and alerted Jubel, but Saxton was assassinated before he could say anything more.

This death left Jubal with more questions than ever, and his survival of the event cast suspicion on him. Viewers later learned that Keene was one of the moles and Forefront was working with China to destabilize American institutions like the eponymous FBI, but Kevin, the Department of Defense whistleblower, was long dead by this stage.
