Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Dexter: Original Sin episode 4.Jimmy Powell was found murdered in Original Sin episode 4, but not in the way they were hoping to.
When Miami Metro finally found Jimmy, he had already been murdered and was hanging from a highway over. His body also didn't give the police much to work with. Tanya (Sarah Michelle Gellar) was only able to determine that he had been killed somewhere else and taken to the over, that he was fed prepackaged lunches, and that the killer cauterized his finger with a cigarette lighter. It seems that Miami Metro is a long way from finding the killer, but Original Sin has given audiences a few clues about who could have committed the crime.
Is Hector Estrada Behind Jimmy Powell's Death In Dexter: Original Sin?
If Hector Estrada Killed Jimmy, Harry Morgan Would Have A Chance For Revenge
The detectives think the cartel may have killed Jimmy Powell, which could point to a longtime Dexter villain: Hector Estrada. Estrada was the drug kingpin that Harry and Bobby Watt (Reno Wilson) investigated with Laura Moser's (Brittany Allen) help in the 1970s. While he was serving a life sentence in the original Dexter, it's not clear exactly when he went to prison, or for what crime he was arrested. It's possible that Hector Estrada actually went to jail for murdering Jimmy Powell, and he might have killed the boy as retribution for Judge Powell's attacks on the cartel.

Dexter: Original Sin Season 2 - Confirmation & Everything We Know
Showtime's Original Sin explores the life of Dexter Morgan in the early 1990s, and now the prequel series has scored a season 2 renewal.
Aside from Captain Spencer's (Patrick Dempsey) theories, Original Sin has already hinted that Estrada could be involved in Jimmy's death. It's likely not a coincidence that Jimmy's abduction and subsequent murder came at the same time Harry has been reminiscing about Laura's death at Estrada's hand. It would make a lot of thematic sense for Original Sin to give Harry another chance at arresting Estrada and finding some justice for Laura's murder. Even though it would open up opportunities to dive deeper into Harry's relationship with Laura, Estrada also might not be the killer.
Dexter: Original Sin Hints At A Dark Twist For Jimmy Powell's Killer
Instead Of The Cartel, Jimmy Powell's Killer May Be Law Enforcement Or A New Serial Killer
Though the cartel is the leading suspect of Miami Metro's investigation, the detectives have also come up with some evidence that suggests it wasn't them. As Harry and Spencer pointed out, it wouldn't make sense for the cartel to kidnap Jimmy without sending demands or a ransom, and they also wouldn't have put his body on display like that. On top of that, Harry mentioned that the Narcotics division was confused because there wasn't much drug activity in Miami at the time. It seems Original Sin is setting up an even darker and more surprising twist.

If the cartel is too easy of an answer to be Jimmy's real killers, there are only a handful of other options it could be. It's possible that the killer is someone inside the department, someone with an intimate knowledge of law enforcement officials like Judge Powell and their families as well as how to confuse a police investigation. It's also possible that Original Sin is gearing up to introduce a new entry in Dexter's list of serial killers, one that hasn't even been mentioned before. Either of those possibilities would set up a very surprising and thrilling story for Dexter: Original Sin to follow.
