Warning! This article contains spoilers for Andor episode 11.Andor season 1 has featured many mentions of Anto Kreegyr, despite the character still not appearing outside of a hologram, begging the question of just why he is so essential to the show. Kreegyr's first mention came in Andor episode 8 and has since been mentioned multiple times in relation to both the Rebellion's story and the ISB's. Andor episode 11 was only the latest to mention Kreegyr, giving viewers their first look at the character through a holographic picture presented to Bix.
This latest mention of Kreegyr reinforces how important he is to the story. Firstly, his link to the Rebellion, Luthen, and Saw Gerrera allows those three story elements to be bonded together. Anto Kreegyr's importance to Andor through the Rebellion comes from the potential raid he will be conducting on an Imperial factory at Spellhaus, which also ties to the ISB storyline as Dedra Meero has since become aware of this plot. Also, Kreegyr links to the Ferrix storyline as the Imperials think he is Andor's as opposed to Luthen.
Anto Kreegyr Highlights The Rebellion's Major Problem
The more prominent mentions of Kreegyr in Andor, through Saw and Luthen, highlight the biggest problem with the Rebellion at this point in the timeline. The different rebel cells across the galaxy lack unity, as evident by Andor episode 11. Kreegyr's raid on Spellhaus was first brought up so that Luthen could enlist Saw Gerrera's rebel cell in the attack, bringing the groups together. Saw was reluctant, stating that he works alone, and only came around to the idea in Andor episode 11 as he was in need of supplies. This episode also highlighted the distrust between differing rebel cells, all brought to light by Kreegyr's inclusion in the show.
Luthen once again visited Saw in Andor episode 11 in which Luthen told Saw not to aid Kreegyr due to the ISB being aware of the raid. Saw immediately began to distrust Luthen due to the latter's s throughout the galaxy, labeling him as ISB. This only goes to show just how distrustful some of the various rebel cells can be, further proving that the Rebellion needs unity and trust to overcome the Empire which they do not have at this point in the Rebel Alliance's timeline.
Will Anto Kreegyr Finally Appear In Andor's Finale?
Given Kreegyr's importance to the overall show, then, many are wondering if that character will actually appear in Andor's season finale. Before Andor episode 11, it might have been the safer bet to assume he would not appear. However, given that the penultimate episode of season 1 finally showcased what Kreegyr looked like, albeit only through a hologram, an actor has been cast for the role. Because of this, it is unlikely he will not show up again, whether it be in the season 1 finale or Andor season 2. With Kreegyr's raid on Spellhaus being a major plot point that has been set up throughout Andor season 1, however, there is potential for that set piece to be shown in the season finale.
New episodes of Andor release on Wednesdays on Disney+.
