Warning: this article contains SPOILERS for High Potential season 1, episode 13.The hit new procedural High Potential is, unfortunately, coming to an end for the season after just 13 episodes, and there's a reason wht. High Potential follows Morgan, a cleaner and single mom of three who starts working as a consultant for the LAPD after she solves a tough case while working her shift. So far, the unusual premise of the show has created a fascinating crime duo between Morgan and the main detective, Karadec.
The crime drama has also featured intense and dramatic storylines, some of which ended on a cliffhanger in the High Potential season 2 will likely continue to follow the gripping story of his disappearance. Despite the excitement for possible explanations, new episodes will have to wait as High Potential season 1 is confirmed to only have 13 episodes, making the delay for the next season even longer.
ABC Ordered High Potential Season 1 To Only Have 13 Episodes
The Shorter Season Has To Do With Kaitlin Olson's Other Commitments
High Potential season 1's short run should come as no surprise as High Potential's own Kaitlin Olson had something to do with determining the length of its freshman year.

High Potential Finale Breaks A Season 1 Trend Both For Better & Worse
High Potential changes things up in the season 1 finale with 1 creative decision that breaks a year-long trend for Kaitlin Olson's series.
According to Deadline, High Potential season 1 was only ordered for 13 episodes, largely due to its unusual production time, but also because of Olson's schedule in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. As a cast regular for almost 20 years, Olson's commitment to It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia was understandably a priority. As a result, because of the filming schedule for both shows, High Potential had to wrap up after its planned 13 episodes to give It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia its own time.
When Will New High Potential Episodes Be Released
New Episodes Will Release In The Fall
While High Potential season 1 has fewer episodes than most procedural seasons, there is some good news. Since the show was renewed for season 2, High Potential will return in the fall of 2025 for the new network TV cycle. The shorter first season means there will be a longer wait time than usual for the next one, but considering how High Potential episode 13 wraps up, there are a lot of good stories to look forward to when it comes back.
