Wild Cards season 2 is the next installment in the Canadian police procedural series and news about the season has been rolling out steadily. Premiering in January 2024, Wild Cards is a Canadian TV show that streams on The CW in America. Starring Giacomo Gianniotti as Cole Ellis and Vanessa Morgan as Max Mitchell, Wild Cards follows a demoted police officer who apprehends a habitual con woman, Max. When Max helps Ellis solve a crime, the pair are made an offer; Max a way out of jail, and Ellis, his detective badge back, if they agree to work together.

A case-of-the-week series, Wild Cards features the odd couple getting past their initial suspicions of one another to become an effective, funny, and all-around great TV police duo. The first ten episodes of the series were a hit, with season 1 earning a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The intelligent cases, the delightful side characters, and the fantastic chemistry between the two leads all combine for a top-notch detective series. The comedic angle of the show also makes for an easy and light watch. Unsurprisingly, it did not take long for Wild Cards season 2 to be announced.

At the end of season 2, Ellis has earned his detective badge back and Max has secured her freedom. Max's father, George, also received a lighter sentence thanks to their efforts. TV procedurals make up some of the most popular series on television, but many have flown under the radar despite their high quality & intrigue.

Season 1 doesn't end that cleanly though, and suddenly Max is back, and she now knows who killed Ellis' brother. Wild Cards season 2 is likely to focus on the hunt for Max's brother's killer. As for the tense romantic relationship between Ellis and Max, Morgan said,

"Max does genuinely care about him. The fact that she even went back [proves that]. She was supposed to be on a plane. She could have been halfway around the world by then. But she came back to tell him who killed his brother. A person with no feelings for someone wouldn't risk their life and risk getting arrested to tell that information. So we'll see what happens."

There's plenty more story to be told in Wild Cards season 2 and much more to peel back about Max and Ellis' relationship.
