Ian Doescher's book, William Shakespeare's Zoom.

Author Ian Doescher seamlessly translated the classic Star Wars films into authentic Shakespearean text, complete with the historically accurate use of meter, verse, and stage directions. A worldwide cast performed select scenes from A New Hope. As the cast notes in the Q&A at the end, Shakespeare and Star Wars mesh quite well. Check out the full performance on the YouTube channel Quirk Books, and don't miss the cast and crew Q&A at the very end.

As the author Ian Doescher states, Shakespeare and Star Wars share common storytelling themes that are universally relatable to audiences, no matter what the time period. The performance is epic, recreating everything from Mos Eisley Cantina band. It's quite impressive how the cast pulled it off in a relatively short amount of time, and it's easy for the audience to suspend their disbelief even though the performance isn't on a stage.

What's magical about Star Wars are the universal themes that withstand the test of time. Though Star Wars hasn't been around nearly as long as Shakespeare's plays, the combination of Shakespeare and Star Wars is simply magical. Hopefully the cast and crew will have a chance to perform scenes from the author's other Shakespeare Star Wars adaptations. May the fourth may be over, but thanks to Star Wars fans like these, the Force will be around not for an age, but for all time.
