A controversial Disney+ series has debuted with a strong Rotten Tomatoes score. Since the streaming service launched in 2019 with the premiere of The Mandalorian, Disney+ has been the home of both Star Wars and Marvel series. The latest live-action Star Wars series was Skeleton Crew, with Andor season 2 set to premiere on April 22. For Marvel, their latest series is the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, with Daredevil: Born Again premiering on March 4.
In addition to Star Wars and Marvel, the streaming service also hosts dedicated hubs for Disney's other major brands, such as Pixar. Cars on the Road and Monsters at Work are both Disney+ series that are direct spinoffs of Pixar movies. After Inside Out 2 became the highest-grossing film of 2024, the interquel series Dream Productions debuted on Disney+ in December. Now, a new original Pixar series has premiered on Disney+ and, despite courting some controversy, has debuted with a strong Rotten Tomatoes score.

What Win Or Lose's Rotten Tomatoes Score Means For The Series
Has It Overcome The Controversy?
Win or Lose has courted controversy for cutting a storyline involving a transgender character. While the character remains in the series, dialogue referencing their gender identity was removed. Chanel Stewart, the openly transgender actress playing the character, criticized the decision, revealing that while they remain part of the show, their character is now depicted as straight and cisgender.
Despite this controversy, the Disney+ series is receiving largely positive reviews. In ScreenRant's Win or Lose review, Ferdosa Abdi writes, "I'm thrilled Pixar is embracing its origins in an emotional and innovative original series that challenges kids... Win or Lose greatly benefits from its diverse tapestry and stories. It feels real and genuine in its attempts to illustrate a close-knit community." Though the controversy hasn't affected Win or Lose's critical reception, it remains to be seen if the same is true for its general audience.
