Everything Revealed By The Witcher Season 3 Trailer
The new season 3 trailer opens with Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri iring a statue while the Witcher remarks, "Neutrality, it won't get you a statue, but it will certainly help in keeping [Ciri] alive." The jovial bard Jaskier (Joey Batey) also says to Geralt, "Neutrality has consequences too." The trailer's early emphasis on neutrality hints at how it will be an important theme this season. For the first two seasons of The Witcher, Geralt has largely remained neutral in wars and political conflicts, but his stance might have to change in season 3.
The Witcher season 3 will present the biggest challenge yet for Geralt's unwavering neutrality as he fights to keep Ciri safe from a barrage of threats in a battlefield of political corruption. Geralt might have to break his commitment to neutrality or risk losing Ciri for good. Yennefer, entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, takes her to the protected fortress of Aretuza where they hope to learn more about her untapped powers. Some of Ciri's powers are on full display in the season 3 trailer as she agilely avoids a monster resembling a rolling tire.
Right before stabbing a sea creature in the head with a sword, Ciri says to Geralt, "We're Witchers." Though Geralt is skeptical, Ciri's statement suggests that season 3 will complete her transformation into a magically enhanced monster hunter after undergoing Witcher training for the past season. With The Witcher season 3 releasing in two parts starting on June 29, the trailer is likely hiding many major developments to come in Volume 2, releasing on July 27.
