There aren't many villains in the Marvel Universe who can stand next to Wolverine and come out looking even more fearsome, but Omega Red is among them. And the fearsome Russian super-soldier looks more frightening than ever in a new cosplay.
In a new cosplay photo shoot by Roger P, the horrifying killer comes to life. The photos were shared on Instagram by safitri_ray_photography and powers make him Wolverine's opposite, most notably thanks to his Death Factor, which unleashes invisible spores into the air which weaken and eventually kill anyone who breathes them in. A true predator and living weapon who kills all those who get close, Omega Red is everything that Logan fears he himself may be.
Omega Red Is Wolverine's Worst Nightmare
Arkady Gregorivich Rossovich was a member of the Soviet Spetsnatz, but even that fearsome organization wasn't enough for his appetites, and Arkady quickly became a prolific serial killer. When his crimes were finally revealed to his commanding officers, he was sentenced to death, but unbeknownst to the Russian officials, Rossovich was a mutant. His regenerative healing factor saved his life, but condemned him to the USSR’s super soldier program. There, he underwent multiple experiments and painful enhancements which gave him a suite of new powers including superhuman strength, durability, and metallic tendrils that he can use to drain the life from his victims. The results of the inhuman project turned Rossovich into Omega Red, Russia’s answer to Weapon X's Wolverine.
Omega Red Is the Villain Who Finally Killed Wolverine
Wolverine and Omega Red have tangled again and again over the years, with many innocent lives lost in the process. Only recently, Omega Red successfully killed Wolverine while working for the vampiric lord Dracula, who wanted to use Wolverine's blood to enhance the world's vampires (and thankfully resurrected Logan to do it.) Since then, Omega Red has been recruited onto X-Force despite Logan's misgivings, availing himself of the amnesty offered by the newly formed mutant nation of Krakoa. While Arkady's hunger for life force is now being fed by less objectionable means, Wolverine knows it's only a matter of time until his serial killer urges tempt him to do the unforgivable once again. Until then, Logan is keeping his enemy close.
This cosplay by Roger P perfectly depicts the sadistic mutant murderer, showing why he's one of few people in the world who can go head-to-head with the Wolverine. Though the two share a similar backstory they could not be further apart. Omega Red and Logan are mortal enemies, and as this cosplay shows, there is good reason to be scared of the mutant that finally killed Wolverine.
