To save Ghost Rider's life, Wolverine is getting a Hellfire power upgrade that transforms his claws like never before. In Ghost Rider #6 by Marvel Comics, Johnny Blaze's demonic infection grows to grotesque levels, leading him to convince Wolverine to use his claws to exorcise the monsters inside him. In a fiery scene, Wolverine's Hellfire claws end up doing the job in an epic fashion.
Wolverine has had fiery claws before using them to save Ghost Rider's life. After he returned from the dead, his healing factor allowed him to activate hot claws, which made his built-in weapons even stronger, albeit at the cost of slowing down his healing factor powers. However, Wolverine's getting a new variation of his hot claws, as Johnny Blaze is lending him his Hellfire power to help him as a demonic attack takes over his body. As a result, Wolverine's claws shine like never before as they embrace the Hellfire.
In Ghost Rider #6 by Benjamin Percy, Brent Peeples, Bryan Valenza, and VC's Travis Lanham from Marvel Comics, Ghost Rider struggles with a demon inside his body, impacting his Spirit of Vengenace powers. Things reach a breaking point as Wolverine uses his claws to cut off parts of the demonic entities inside Johnny Blaze's body, much to his horror. Ghost Rider begs Wolverine to kill him as his infection grows to its most disturbing form. In a last-ditch effort to save Blaze, Wolverine asks him to try to summon the Spirit of Vengeance, and when he does it, Ghost Rider guides his claws towards his Hellfire, giving the mutant hero the power upgrade he needs to take out the demons.
Thanks to the Hellfire Wolverine's claws, he's able to use Ghost Rider's powers to exorcise the demons inside Johnny Blaze, burning and cutting them from his body. However, while Wolverine saves Ghost Rider from the demonic entity, it, unfortunately, doesn't disappear, as when the pair leaves the bar, it latches onto one of the patrons who had previously attacked Logan.
Seeing Wolverine get a power upgrade from the Spirit of Vengeance to save Johnny Blaze is an incredibly badass yet horrific scene. The Hellfire gives Logan the powers necessary to save Ghost Rider as he cuts the demons out of him as they emerge from his body. The monsters killing Blaze from the inside might be taken out of him thanks to Wolverine's intervention, but Ghost Rider's battle with the dark forces seems far from over. At least the hero has Logan by his side to take on whatever comes next.
