Warning: Spoilers for Venom War: Deadpool #3 ahead!Wolverine’s sons took on more prominent roles in the Marvel Universe in 2024; one died, and was resurrected as the new Ghost Rider, while another, Jimmy Hudson, hopped around the Multiverse, and helped save the world thanks to a gross new power, all while co-starring in an exciting new series.
Venom War: Deadpool #3 – written by Cullen Bunn, with art by Rob Di Salvo – featured another big moment for Jimmy, Wolverine’s alternate universe son, as he reminded readers that he has his own powers as the Poison Symbiote, including showcasing his 7th claw, a prehensile razor-sharp symbiote tongue.
Jimmy proved invaluable in defeating the ‘Zombiote’ invasion, which was central to the crossover event, making it a break-out year for the at-times forgotten character – and suggesting that Marvel will continue to invest time in making him a more distinct character, allowing him to step out of his famous father's shower.
In 2024, Wolverine's Son Jimmy Hudson Took Center Stage, And Showed Off His Shocking Extra Claw

Jimmy is an interesting case, even by the standards of Wolverine's offshoot characters. Introduced in the original Ultimate Universe as Logan’s son, following his father’s death, Jimmy neverachiever the same popularity as most of Jimmy’s X-Men and Venom appearances since. However, outside of Bunn, Jimmy’s struggled to find a home in any corner of the Marvel Universe.
Readers haven't witnessed Jimmy’s Poison powers, including his seventh claw, in TVA thus far, and it is possible this is a different variant of the character.
Following his Venom War appearance, Jimmy has gotten involvemed in the new series TVA, making it clear that Marvel is carving out a role for Jimmy Hudson in its mainstream continuity, and expecting him to grow into it. With only one issue released to date, Jimmy is portrayed as a new outside recruit to the titular organization, with narrator Spider-Gwen itting she doesn’t know much about him. Readers haven't witnessed Jimmy’s Poison powers, including his seventh claw, in TVA thus far, and it is possible this is a different variant of the character, though that remains to be determined.

Perhaps bigger question, at least in-universe, is whether Jimmy’s 2024 appearances signal that he’s in a healthy place as a character. Appearing in multiple series isn’t a bad start, but he’s no-one’s first choice of symbiote, or Wolverine, except maybe Cullen Bunn's. TVA is, by design, filled with Multiversal rejects – and Spider-Gwen – and that’s what Jimmy is, and why it gives him a chance to establish himself even more. While it is a great start that he is appearing more often now, Wolverine’s son still has a long way to go before he can be considered anything close to A-List.
