Spoilers to X-Force #5 below

Thanks to adamantium bones and a healing factor, Wolverine has survived some gruesome fates. What makes him so tough is his ability to keep going on after suffering injuries and dismemberments that would kill pretty much anyone else. However, after being cut in half and shot seemingly tens of times, Wolverine's latest injury definitely ranks among his worse.

When it comes to beating death, nobody beats Wolverine. despite having a really tough life.

X-Force #5 sees Wolverine cut in half after the portal he used to get to Krakoa was closed as he was crossing it by invaders trying to breach the mutant paradise. He's not the only one who gets chopped into pieces, as Kid Omega's head is cut clean off beside him. It's good that he realizes at that moment dead isn't dead when it comes to Mutants, otherwise, Wolverine might have gone berserk. Still, Wolverine doesn't wallow around in pity, instead, he starts picking off soldiers. He lunges his claws through an unsuspecting invader and tries to kill two more despite missing the lower half of his body. Two soldiers unload machine gun fire at him, leaving his top half mutilated and filled with bullet holes.

Despite his guts being on full display and having fresh bullet holes throughout his body, Wolverine still tries to kill soldiers after Forge finds him. Forge lets him know he can't let him kill the soldier "until those guts heal and your spin cord fuses." Thankfully for Wolverine, Domino finishes the job and incinerates the invader.

Even in a state that can barely be called living, Wolverine doesn't give up the fight. After the soldiers are taken down, Wolverine recovers and has a much-deserved whiskey. He tells Domino he "feels like a piece of **** but I'll be all right. With time." Domino asks him how he's doing mentally, and Wolverine reveals "those don't heal quite as good," but that the whiskey helps him numb the pain.

Despite getting cut in half and shot to bits, Wolverine managed to make it out of the violent situation alive. However, he still felt the pain and he'll have to deal with the mental trauma that comes with it. He does have someone to talk to since Domino has experienced similar body mutilation. Wolverine is a tough guy, but even tough guys feel pain.
