The Poison symbiote has imbued Jimmy’s bone claws with the symbiote’s shapeshifting physiology and the species’ predatorial advantage over uninfected Klyntar.

Jimmy Hudson was originally from the old Ultimate Marvel universe, Earth-1610. However, during the incursion, Jimmy and his Ultimate X-Men compatriots had become stranded in Earth-616. Sometime later, during the Venomverse saga, a species of extradimensional monstrosities called Poisons had invaded Earth-616 in search of the species’s ultimate prey, the symbiotes. The Poison Hive’s purpose was to force symbiotic bonding to then assimilate the symbiote and host into the Poison collective. While protecting his fellow mutants, Jimmy was infected by a Poison symbiote. After the death of the Hive’s queen, Jimmy’s Poison remained bonded, constantly fighting to control his body.

While Poison is able to move around in Jimmy’s human body, its symbiotic form is an entirely unique monster. Poison’s body swells in size, augmenting its body into a hardened shell-like state. Its face takes on the iconic symbiotic qualities, but more prominently important are its claws. In addition to his Wolverine-like powers, the Poison symbiote has imbued Jimmy’s bone claws with the symbiote’s shapeshifting physiology and the species’ predatorial advantage over uninfected Klyntar. In short, when Poison puts down a symbiote, it stays down for good.

Poison’s Claws Are a Permanent Death Sentence for Symbiotes

He May Have a Future in Further Symbiote Stories

Poison fights Zombiotes in a feral rage.

In this issue of Venom War: Deadpool, Poison falls into a berserking feral rage, targeting friend and foe alike. While lashing out at every moving target around it, Poison lethally claws a massive chunk of Deadpool’s symbiote pet, Princess’s, flesh off. Normally, Princess would be able to regenerate that portion of her body, but because of Poison’s predatorial dominance over symbiotes, the alien “dog” falls to the ground, calling to Deadpool. Fortunately for Princess, she is able to bond with Deadpool and use his advanced healing factor as her own.

Besides his claws and healing factor, Wolverine has been host to many different powers throughout the year, but these are his deadliest.

After 2015’s Secret Wars Secret Wars event event, Jimmy Hudson fell off of Marvel’s radar. While Logan has spent the last decade reconnecting with his many children, Jimmy has traditionally been excluded from the bunch. That said, his reemergence in the Venom War has suddenly elevated the alternate reality outcast into a potential threat to be explored later. Supposedly the last of Poison’s Hive, the son of Wolverine may prove to be a permanent figure in Marvel’s future symbiotic stories.
