Warning! Preview pages ahead for Wonder Woman #7!When it comes to the three best heroes in the Justice League, that makes the Trinity work. Diana takes a brief pause from her mission to stop the wave of anti-Amazon hysteria to talk with Superman about the trio's particular outlooks on life.
In a preview for Wonder Woman #7 by Tom King and Guillem March, it's Batman's birthday and Wonder Woman is heading out to space to look for a present to get her comrade. On the way, Diana speaks with Superman, who doubts that Bruce will even care about a present.
Wonder Woman convinces Superman that Batman does care, surprised that she has to lecture the hero about optimism. When Superman says he's not the hopeful one, Diana assures him that he sees the best in things, Batman sees the worst, and Wonder Woman sees the world for what it is.
DC's Trinity Balances Optimism, Cynicism, and Realism
The DC Universe has the good fortune of being safeguarded by some of the most powerful heroes alive. But even among the most elite heroes in the Justice League, it's DC's Trinity of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman who stand head and shoulders above the rest. Diana, Clark, and Bruce each come from radically different walks of life, but they wound up forming one of the strongest bonds among heroes and in comics altogether. Of course, despite their close friendship, each member of the Trinity greatly varies in how they view the world and how they believe they can help.
Wonder Woman makes a salient point when it comes to how she defines her and her comrades' roles. Despite his reluctance to it it, Superman is the greatest symbol of hope in the DC Universe and he believes in the best of everyone. Batman, on the other hand, is a great skeptic and often distrusts others until given a reason to believe in the best. Unlike her friends, Wonder Woman takes the middle road of these ideologies and simply takes things as they are and acts appropriately. With these particular outlooks, DC's Trinity is the most balanced superhero team around.
Wonder Woman Helps Keep Batman and Superman Grounded
It's not good for Batman to be inherently distrusting, but it's also not great for Superman to be overwhelmingly idealistic. Wonder Woman keeps her teammates balanced with their outlooks to life. In turn, they remind Diana to be more cautious or hopeful. It's an equilibrium that keeps the trio open to other perspectives while also making sure they approach any situation in the most level-headed way possible. The Justice League is fortunate to have found a great balance between the ideology of Wonder Woman and her closest comrades in the Trinity.
Wonder Woman #7 is available on March 19th from DC Comics.
