Warning! Spoilers ahead for Absolute Power #1!After decades of debate, fans have an official answer to how Wonder Woman's power level compares to Kryptonians. Superman is by far the strongest hero in the DC Universe and several of his family rival his strength.

But what about Diana of Themyscira? Readers have seen her go toe-to-toe with aliens, gods, demons, and even the Man of Steel himself. But when it comes down to it, where does Wonder Woman fall on the scale compared to the strongest species in the DCU? A terrifying new team of villains has subtly revealed how strong Wonder Woman really is.

Wonder Woman is Weaker Than Superman But Stronger Than Other Kryptonians

In Absolute Power #1 by Mark Waid, Dan Mora, Alejandro Sánchez, and Ariana Maher, Amanda Waller has gathered all the assets she needs and is enacting her ultimate plan to rid the Earth of metahumans. Using the Brainiac Queen, Waller floods the internet with AI-generated videos that depict beloved heroes attacking innocent civilians. The public immediately turns on the heroes, attacking superhumans like Animal Man in broad daylight. While the heroes respond to the faked videos, Waller readies Task Force VII for the next phase of her attack.

...Clark has the highest possible power level

The heroes put their greatest minds and tech experts to track down the source of the videos, but Waller’s firewalls prevent them from finding her. Meanwhile, every hero hits the streets to counter the narrative and get the public back on their side. Unfortunately, this is exactly what Waller was counting on. With the heroes distracted, Task Force VII seeks out various metahumans to drain their powers. One Amazo known as Last Son sneaks up on Superman and notes that Clark has the highest possible power level.

Superman’s powers are stolen and he’s subsequently shot, though thankfully, he’s rescued by his son Jon and Superboy. However, Last Son is still on the scene and determines the two Kryptonians’ power levels are equal to roughly two-thirds of Superman’s. In Washington, Wonder Woman and other magic heroes watch as Waller puts out a video promising retribution on the metahumans. This also serves as a distraction for an Amazo called Paradise Lost to get the drop on Diana. Paradise Lost’s scans determine that Wonder Woman’s power level falls between the young Kryptonians and Superman.

How Wonder Woman's Strength Has Grown Through the Years

Wonder Woman has been around for nearly a century and over the course of several decades, her power levels have fluctuated. When she originally debuted in All-Star Comics #8, Diana was described as possessing "the speed of Mercury and the strength of Hercules" (not unlike Shazam). Wonder Woman would regularly fight powerful villains like Ares or Circe. That said, as strong as she was, Wonder Woman could easily lose her powers by being bound, a weakness that was eventually done away with years later.

For a short period, Wonder Woman was completely powerless after giving up her amazing strength to live in Man's World. But this was only temporary and she eventually gained her powers back. Not too long after that, Crisis on Infinite Earths occurred, which shook up Diana's continuity and increased her power level even further. Now her powers came directly from the gods such as Demeter, Hermes, and Athena. She was nearly as fast as any speedster and could fight and defeat heroes as strong as Green Lantern and Superman.

Fans should make sure they see Superman and Diana's most infamous fight in Wonder Woman #219 (2005)!

Flashpoint shook up DC continuity once again and altered Wonder Woman's past once more, making her a daughter of Zeus, the mightiest of the Greek god pantheon. However, most of Wonder Woman's special powers came from the gifts bestowed upon her by the gods. She was still one of the fastest and strongest beings alive (not to mention, possibly the best fighter in the DC Universe). But as mighty as Wonder Woman has been shown to be, Superman has always had a bit more power at his disposal.

Wonder Woman is as Strong as Kryptonians, Just Not Superman

It should be noted that it isn't revealed what factors into the Amazos' scans when determining power levels. Since the Task Force VII drain metahumans of all of their special abilities, it can be assumed that it's an overall average of their power. It's not a surprise that Clark and Jon both rank lower than Superman. After all, both of them are still pretty young, neither of them has the years of experience Superman does and are only half-Kryptonian.

If any of Superman's old Justice League pals comes close to rivaling him in strength, it would be Diana.

Wonder Woman, on the other hand, is a full-blooded Amazon, has spent her whole life training her body past the point of physical perfection, has godly blood flowing through her veins and was literally blessed by the heavens. If any of Superman's old Justice League pals comes close to rivaling him in strength, it would be Diana. Of course, Superman is and always has been in a league of his own when it comes to raw power. At least a dozen Kryptonians are running around the DC Universe, and even those who share Superman's blood can't always keep up with him.

But for someone who isn't from Krypton, Wonder Woman is a remarkably powerful hero. If someone like Shazam, a being similarly blessed by Greek gods, could match the Man of Steel's power and strength, it makes sense that Wonder Woman would too. Sure, she might not be as powerful as the Man of Steel, but it's still amazing to see that an official scan has placed her in the league of other Kryptonians. Maybe not every Amazon would get the same ranking, but someone of Wonder Woman's caliber certainly deserves it.

Wonder Woman Earned Her Official Power Ranking

With all the feats Superman's done, there's no doubt that Clark has earned his power ranking. But Wonder Woman's accomplishments are often overlooked. Those who know the things Diana has done know how much power she truly wields and would readily agree that her official power ranking is deserved. She may not be on Superman's level, but Wonder Woman is more powerful than some Kryptonians and that's something no fan can dispute.
