EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #228; the February 3rd Wordle answer is available now.
February 2nd’s Wordle answer was not too hard to guess, provided players used the correct starting word. The five-letter puzzle game changes the answer every 24 hours so that players can attempt to guess the new word in six tries or less. The game tests the player’s vocabulary similar to crossword puzzles, but it does not provide any hints for the answer.
Without any hints, it is still relatively easy to follow Wordle’s rules, especially for new players. The game only requires a smartphone or any other device that has a browser installed to participate. Players can start entering their five-letter guesses and try to figure out today’s answer. In their attempts, if a particular letter's box turns green, it means that the letter is being used in today’s answer and is also in the right spot. However, if the letter's box turns yellow, that means the letter is being used in today’s answer but is not at the right spot. If a letter's box does not change any color, it means the letter is not being used anywhere in today’s answer.
Once players guess today’s Wordle answer, they can share their progress with the rest of the world on social media websites like Twitter and Facebook. Players can click on the ‘Share’ button, which lets them copy a set of emojis that are color-coded boxes. These boxes signify how far or close a player was to solving today’s answer without spoiling it for others. It is also worth pointing out that sharing one's progress on social media also shows the number of attempts for today’s Wordle puzzle.
