The Feldrake, a World of Warcraft mount once only available through the now discontinued World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, will soon be free for players to obtain. The Trading Card Game was based on the MMORPG and first released in 2006, running until 2013, when Blizzard decided against renewing the license for the game. Not every player had the luck of pulling a rare card from a store-bought pack, and in such cases, players might have chosen to buy the card code they wanted online from somebody that did pull the card.
As spotted by World of Warcraft: Dragonflight content after its launch on November 28 on Twitch. Players will have until November 30 to link their Battle.net and Twitch s and watch four hours of WoW content to be rewarded with the Feldrake. However, Blizzard's decision to give away this mount has left some players upset. Specifically, some players are unhappy that a mount they obtained through luck, or real money, will now be available to any player as a reward for watching a few hours of game streams. This could come as an upset to players who have spent up to nearly $3000 on the Feldrake card, which has been sold as recently as October 24, as shown by Reddit Void_Guardians.
World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight Could Make Other Exclusive Content Free To Obtain
Making the Feldrake, a very exclusive mount, easily obtainable is raising player hopes that other content from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game will be made available in the future. WoW: Dragonflight is bringing new races and mounts to the game, and the strategy of unlocking content by watching Twitch was previously used by Blizzard for Overwatch. Blizzard has offered rewards through Twitch Prime, but this will be its first Twitch Drop Campaign, leaving players wondering if more campaigns of a similar style will be coming in the future.
It's been nearly a decade since the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game has been discontinued, so it's very possible that players have ed the game after that point, meaning they missed the chance to try their luck at getting rare cards. Even players subscribed while the card game was active could have opted out of purchasing card packs with real money in the hope of finding a rare card. However, Blizzard's divisive choice to give World of Warcraft players old and new one of the most exclusive mounts for free might feel like an insult to those who own the Feldrake already, since it will lose its prestigious status of being among the rarest mounts.
The Feldrake is similar to a mount available from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, but with different coloring, making its desirability stem mostly from its rarity. The news of it being made free for players who watch a set amount of World of Warcraft content on Twitch will likely come as a shock to those players who invested so much money in the dragon beforehand. However, it stands to reason that the majority of players will benefit from such a move, as they'll now be able to obtain a once near-unobtainable item. Four hours of Twitch streams may or may not be a big commitment depending on the player, but getting a Feldrake should ultimately be worth it.
