Disney has a lot of content in their vault. With the acquisition of Fox, that list expanded substantially. When Disney announced that they would be opening up the vault for Disney+, that meant a lot of great content was coming to the platform, but also a lot of bad content was coming as well. That being said, entertainment is always subjective and one man's trash can be another man's treasure, especially with comedy movies as humor varies from person to person. Great comedy can give an audience great quotes to , but a bad comedy can be very difficult to get through. Here are the 10 worst comedy movies on Disney+, according to Rotten Tomatoes
The Haunted Mansion-14%
Based on the very beloved attraction found at many Disney parks, this 2003 movie stars Eddie Murphy as a real estate agent who is called to try and sell a rather creepy house. He brings his family along with him as they are going on vacation, but get stuck in the house due to a storm and become entrenched in a strange plot involving weddings and betrayals.
Critics found this movie to be rather unfunny and almost as lifeless as the ghosts in the film. Fans of the ride may get a kick out of this movie, but others may just find it tedious. However, Terrence Stamp as a ghost butler is an absolute highlight.
Confessions of A Teenage Drama Queen-14%
Released in 2004, Confessions of A Teenage Drama Queen stars Lindsay Lohan as a teenage girl who is trying to achieve the status of the most popular girl in school. Many critics found this movie to be very cheesy, even for Disney. It appeals to young girls but besides that, it doesn't do much to strike a chord outside of that demographic. The plot itself sounds like it is a Disney Channel original movie that was given a bigger budget. This should do well for those who are in the mood for cheesy coming of age movies.
That Darn Cat-13%
After finding a message written on her cat's collar from a kidnapping victim, a young woman, played by Christina Ricci, along with the help of her cat, try to find the culprit and the person who left the clue.
This is a 1997 remake of a 1965 movie of the same name which was also made by Disney. In comparison, the 1965 film is very well received with a 94%, meaning this remake fell flat. Critics said that this film suffers from a poor script, bad acting, and subpar directing.
College Road Trip-12%
Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symone star as a father-daughter duo in this 2008 comedy. Lawrence plays an over-protective father who takes his daughter on a road trip around the country of potential universities.
While there is a nice message about family, critics found this movie to be immature and humorless with Lawrence not even being able to save much of the film's comedy. Let's not forget, however, that the double dutch bus musical sequence is still iconic.
My Favorite Martian-12%
My Favorite Martian is a wacky comedy starring Jeff Daniels as a news reporter who tries to use the discovery of a martian, played by Christopher Lloyd, to his advantage by exposing him and creating a groundbreaking news story. Along the way, wacky hijinks ensue as the martian goes out of control. This 1999 comedy features a great cast with additional Elizabeth Hurley and Wallace Shawn but is unfortunately weighed down by a weak script that critics did not find enjoyable. It may be about a favorite martian, but it is nobody's favorite comedy.
Blank Check-9%
This movie is every kid's dream. An eleven-year-old boy cashes in a check that ends up being worth a million dollars. He then goes nuts spending this million on whatever he wants. Unfortunately, for critics, the movie ended up being a nightmare. It is criticized for having a bunch of questionable choices, including a much older adult woman who ends up having a creepy romantic fling with this rich eleven-year-old. Even Anakin and Pe are shaking their heads in disgust.
Meet the Deedles-7%
This 1998 family comedy stars Paul Walker and Steve Van Wormer as a pair of surfer bros who get stuck in the wilderness and need to figure out ways to survive. This fish out of water story really struggled to land with critics. Critics found this movie to be annoying and also sorely lacking of any comedy. Luckily, Walker would find later success with Fast and Furious and people could forget about the time that they met the Deedles.
Kazaam-6%
Shaquille O'Neal as a rapping genie? What could go wrong? Apparently, everything. Kazaam is a movie that some people who grew up in the 90's have nostalgia for, but maybe not for good reasons.
Critics claim that the movie suffers from poor writing, lazy humor, bad directing, and effects that were already outdated at the time. It also seems like more of an attempt by O'Neal to land a record deal than it is for him to act as he poorly raps throughout most of the movie.
Old Dogs-5%
In Old Dogs, two best friends become stuck caring for a young pair of twins while also trying to make a successful business deal. The film stars John Travolta and Robin Williams, who still couldn't save this film, even though talents like these two should be able to create some comedy magic. Critics found this movie to be painfully unfunny and rather mean-spirited, especially for a Disney family film. It's a shame because Williams is always a delight on screen.
A Kid In King Arthur's Court-5%
This 1995 kids adventure movie stars Thomas Ian Nicholas as a modern-day kid who is transported to the time of King Arthur and finds a place in his court. A neat idea, but it is stifled by seemingly lazy effort. Critics bashed the film for having poor writing, directing, and acting. For such a mystical idea, there is not much magic here. While it is one of Disney's more obscure movies, it does feature performances from Kate Winslet and Daniel Craig.
