It is easy to be caught up in the eagerness of looking at the new content coming with the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion that's launching soon, yet there are numerous things that players should do before the pre-patch arrives while they prepare to leave Shadowlands behind. The general excitement for new content can make players forget that there are several things vanishing from the game and unaware WoW players could miss out on rewards such as mounts, or face increased difficulty in obtaining them after Dragonflight is here.

The release date for the Dragonflight pre-patch has been officially announced as October 25, 2022. Following that, the full launch of the expansion will happen on November 28. As with all updates and expansions, there are going to be some achievements, transmogs, mounts, and titles from the Shadowlands expansion which will disappear with the updates. Additionally, there will be many new changes with the expansion which players can eagerly anticipate and prepare for as well.

Currently, World of Warcraft is providing its playerbase with buffs ahead of WoW: Dragonflight's pre-patch to help them in leveling their various characters and is encouraging players to get the most they can out of the Shadowlands content before returning to the land of the living. Blizzard has announced many changes which will happen - with content becoming more difficult or even going away with the new expansion. Several mounts and achievements will no longer be available after WoW: Dragonflight swoops in, so now is the time to focus on finishing up any loose ends.

It's Time To Level Those Alts Ahead of WoW: Dragonflight's Pre-Patch

WORLD OF WARCRAFT

The Winds of Wisdom experience buff is active right now to encourage players to work on getting characters to max level before the new WoW: Dragonflight expansion. This leveling boost offers a 50% increase in experience earned and is helpful for anyone who has taken a hiatus from the game and now may want a fresh start with a new character. It also is great for players who are wanting to work on getting their alts to max level for the new expansion because Winds of Wisdom increases the experience gained on any character that is played who is between the levels 10-59.

However, it is important to keep in mind that unlike the recent Joyous Journeys experience boost that lasted all the way through the pre-patch event in WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic, the Winds of Wisdom event does finish as soon as the pre-patch for WoW: Dragonflight is started rather than the at the launch of the full expansion. Unfortunately, because of this, the experience boost will not work on the new and highly anticipated dracthyr evoker.

The easiest mount to obtain is the community-chosen Wandering Ancient mount. This free mount was created based on a Warcraft community poll held in 2020. While it is not confirmed, it is rumored that because this free reward is a Shadowlands mount, it will no longer be available after the Dragonflight expansion enters the scene. Anyone who owns the Shadowlands expansion can receive this mount simply by logging into the game. Players who may have taken a break from World of Warcraft will need to they have logged in and received this mount before November 28.

Vengeance's Reins & Fractal Cypher Of The Zereth Overseer Get Drop Rate Decreases

Two of the mounts in World of Warcraft which will be unavailable after Dragonflight launches

Both the mythic Sylvanas mount, Vengeance's Reins, and the mythic Jailer mount, Fractal Cypher of the Zereth Overseer, will still be available but will have increased difficulty in obtaining them after the new WoW: Dragonflight expansion arrives. As fated raids, they both are set to offer two mounts dropping with every kill throughout the Dragonflight pre-patch period. However, after the Dragonflight expansion has launched, the drop rate for each of these mounts will be significantly decreased.

Finishing Touches On Shadowlands Covenants & Campaigns Before WoW: Dragonflight

World of Warcraft Shadowlands Will Make Character Gender Changes Free

Each of the Shadowlands' Covenant paths offered wildly varying storylines. These weeks leading up to the pre-patch events of WoW: Dragonflight are a great time for players to finish up any Shadowlands campaigns if they were not able to complete the expansion earlier. The various covenant paths that characters could take each offer different rewards, transmogs, pets, toys, mounts, and more. While these rewards are most likely not going away soon, this is still a perfect time to play through any content that was missed.

The World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion will have an incredible amount of new content and revamping of current content, and it is coming soon. The pre-patch could be arriving on October 25, 2022, and then the full expansion will launch on November 28. There isn't much time left for players who have not completed everything they would like to have done in the Shadowlands expansion or those who are looking ahead and want to prepare their characters and themselves before the dragonflights of Azeroth return to the Dragon Isles. This month is the perfect time to enjoy the content that Shadowlands provides while looking to the future of Azeroth.
