In 2018, the much anticipated sequel to Ralph Breaks the Internet was released. It had many of the things that made the first film so memorable, such as video game references and a story about friendship. Another aspect that was brought back, and expanded upon, was the cast.
Many of the cast from the first film came back for the second, including Taraji P. Henson, and more. Here are ten things about the cast of both films that you might be surprised to learn.
Alan Tudyk - Disney Animation's Good Luck Charm
In Ralph Breaks the Internet, Alan Tudyk plays Knowsmore, a personified search engine similar to Google. Tudyk has appeared in Injustice as Green Arrow, Rogue One as K-2SO, and Doom Patrol as Mr. Nobody. Additionally, Tudyk has appeared in every Disney Animation film since the original Wreck-It Ralph, where he was King Candy.
Similarly to Moana, he plays Hei Hei.
Bill Hader - He Once Spoiled Titanic
Finding Dory. But before this, he worked at a movie theater.
When he was attending community college, he worked at a theater near Tempe, Arizona. One day, a group of girls were buying tickets for Titanic. The girls were noisy and rude to him, so before he handed them their tickets, he spoiled the entire ending of the film.
Ed O'Neill - He Was An Athlete
Ed O'Neill plays Mr. Litwak in both Wreck-It Ralph movies. In addition, he played Hank in Modern Family. O'Neill's interests aside from acting include teaching and athletics.
Before breaking out in acting, O'Neill substituted classes as a high school social studies teacher. Also, he wanted to become a professional football player, but he was rejected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he had pursued that path and gotten into football, the shows he was a part of would probably be very different.
Ali Wong - She Has A Different Name
Ali Wong plays Felony, one of the racers in the fictional game Slaughter Race. Aside from Ralph Breaks the Internet, her filmography includes Netflix's Onward. On all of these, she's credited as "Ali Wong", but that wasn't the name she was born with.
On April 19, 1982, Alexandra Dawn Wong was born. Sometime between then and now, she adopted the name Ali Wong. The name Ali could be seen as a shortened version of Alexandra, so it's not too difficult to understand why she goes by it.
Gal Gadot - She Lived In Israel
The Simpsons as herself. Prior to her acting career, she was raised in Rosh HaAyin, Israel.
Gadot had many accomplishments in Israel. She worked at Burger King, she was named Miss Israel as a teenager, and she served in the Israeli Defense Forces for two years. Her dedication and diligence in her craft led her to where she is today.
Jane Lynch - She's Deaf In One Ear
Jane Lynch plays Sergeant Calhoun of Hero's Duty in the Wreck-It Ralph series. She was also Nebula in The Super Hero Squad Show, AVA in Final Space, and Sue Sylvester in Glee. Another fact about her is that she's deaf in her right ear.
When she was seven years old, Lynch was diagnosed with hearing loss in her right ear. She believes the cause of this is a high fever she had when she was a baby, which led to nerve damage.
Jack McBrayer - He's Worked In Musicals
Fix-It Felix Jr. gets his voice from Jack McBrayer, who has also been in Phineas and Ferb as Irving, Smurfs: The Lost Village as Clumsy, and Wander Over Yonder as Wander. Not only does McBrayer act on screen, but he also acts on stage.
In 2017, McBrayer played Eugene Fodor in the concert version of the musical Crazy for You. Not only that, but he was in the 2019 Waitress musical as Ogie Anhorn. Seeing as how Fix-It Felix is a Disney character, maybe he'll one day get a song like in a musical.
Taraji P. Henson - She Had Many Jobs Before Acting
Taraji P. Henson plays Yesss in the film, an algorithm that helps Ralph and Vanellope create trending videos on the internet. She was also in Hidden Figures as Katherine Johnson, The Karate Kid as Sherry Parker, and Empire as Cookie Lyon.
Before becoming an actress, Henson had other career paths. She attended college to study electrical engineering, but had to drop out. During that time, she worked for the United States Department of Defense. She also worked as a waitress on a cruise ship.
Sarah Silverman - She's A Vegetarian
Sarah Silverman plays Ralph's best friend and racer Vanellope. Silverman has also played Patty Di Marco in Saturday Night Live. Not only is she an actress and comedian, but she's a vegetarian, too.
When she was younger, a farmer asked her to pick out a turkey. She picked out a cute one, but she didn't know what the farmer had in mind. The farmer killed the turkey right in front of her, and ever since, she's sworn off eating meat.
John C. Reilly - He Once Quit A Film
John C. Reilly plays the main man himself, Wreck-It Ralph. His filmography is expanded with Kong: Skull Island. He also would've starred in the film Manderlay if he hadn't left.
The reason Reilly quit the film is because a donkey was killed for it. He refused to be a part of slaughtering an animal, so he left his role. The film ended up not showing the donkey's death anyway, so perhaps Reilly won in the end.
