It sounds like pause the WWE game series the following year to access just what went wrong.
Since then, 2K and developer Visual Concepts have been promising something better with WWE 2K21, which was announced during April’s two-nighta worthwhile in-ring performance – and recent insider reports sound promising.
As reported by VGC, Forbes magazine writer Brian Mazique claims to have spoken to people with insider knowledge of the development of WWE 2K22. On his most recent YouTube stream last week, Mazique says that his sources describe 2K22’s latest build as “fantastic,” and claim that the controls are “much cleaner” than past installments. "I have been told that the game is playing fantastic and that the gameplay engine is completely rebuilt," he went on to report. “Anybody who is talking about gameplay at this point is probably somewhat close to 2K, so you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt […] but the last thing that I heard about this […] is that this feels like a wrestling fan’s wrestling game.”
Aside from the disastrous launch of WWE 2K20 and the lukewarm reception of last year’s arcade-style WWE 2K Battlegrounds, Visual Concepts is going to be facing many hurdles in its quest to get WWE 2K22 over with the crowd. former WWE developer Yukes to help build it.
WWE’s gaming franchise has needed some fresh air for quite some time, and if what Brain Mazique says is true, WWE 2K22 could be a step in the right direction. Visual Concepts has promised that its newest wrestling title will “hit different” when it’s finally released later this year, but only time will tell if WWE 2K22 can live up to the slowly-but-steadily building hype.
