Here are the biggest controversies coming out of Wrestlemania), a shift back towards live television has already begun. Money In The Bank was a mixture of both, with most of the card coming live from WWE's own performance center, and the titular Ladder matches already in the can.

And there's good reason for that, as for the first time ever, the Ladder matches took place at WWE headquarters, with the competitors working their way up through the floors of the building to vie for the briefcase at the very top. As usual, the first to claim the case is eligible for a title opportunity at any time and while there were separate cases for the male and female wrestlers, both matches were held simultaneously, creating a chaotic main event. Generally speaking, Money In The Bank 2020 has been praised by fans, but it wouldn't be a WWE PPV without a little controversy.

Otis Is Mr. Money In The Bank

Otis Dozovic WWE

While few could argue with Asuka picking up the women's MITB briefcase, the men's winner is proving more divisive. Otis has been a highlight of WWE in recent months, largely due to his well-executed storyline with Mandy Rose and big Wrestlemania win. MITB 2020 saw Otis earn a future title shot, catching the falling briefcase from the slippery grasp of AJ Styles. Prior to his current story, Otis' Heavy Machinery tag-team were lucky to feature on TV at all, so this sudden elevation has certainly raised some eyebrows. With that said, WWE all too often fails to invest in up-and-coming talent, and it's a refreshing change to see Otis' popularity pay off.

The WWE HQ Ladder Match

Baron Corbin and Asuka at WWE Money in the Bank 2020

In this pandemic era, both WWE and AEW have indulged in some out-of-the-box matches with wildly varying results. The Boneyard and Firefly Funhouse matches at Wrestlemania proved polarizing in their uniqueness and 2020's MITB Ladder match was no different. As with those Wrestlemania bouts, the race to the top of WWE HQ featured references, guest appearances, comedy and attempted murder, inviting both glowing praise and damning criticism. Evidently, WWE's cinematic matches aren't to everyone's taste, but while the Boneyard and Firefly Funhouse efforts were undoubtedly preferable to regular matches, the MITB Ladder match is usually a yearly highlight even without the wacky bells and whistles.

No Smackdown Hacker Reveal

WWE Smackdown Hacker

The identity (or identities) of the Smackdown vigilante hacker is one of the most interesting ongoing storylines in WWE at present, and many thought a big reveal was coming at MITB. This had already been teased in a previous hacker segment, which featured the date of MITB as a smartphone code and also included the coordinates for WWE's performance center. The suggestion was very much that something big was in the works, but while the hacker did appear on the PPV, fans remain none the wiser. There were more hints that the hacker is actually a collective, rather than one individual, but no more information on their names or motives.

Seth Rollins Face Turn Incoming

Facing off for the WWE Championship, Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins put on a typically impressive, high work-rate match for MITB 2020, no doubt soothing fans who would later find the main event too madcap. As widely predicted, the Scot retained his gold, but no one saw the post-match handshake coming. Rollins has been on a tear since adopting his 'Monday Night Messiah' gimmick, and has proved great viewing as a delusional Christ-like heel. Alas, the handshake seems to hint towards a face turn for Rollins, which would certainly be odd given his recent strong performances. Perhaps there's more to the handshake that it seemed on the night.

Another Bray Wyatt Loss

WWE - The Fiend Bray Wyatt

Fiend fans will be getting nervous after this latest setback. Two important caveats, however: this match was specified as "Bray Wyatt" vs. Braun in order to protect The Fiend, and Braun won by duping his opponent, ensuring their rivalry will continue. Depending on how the feud develops, Bray's latest WWE loss may not prove too damaging.
