WWE, it has to carry some water. The Nature Boy isn't backstage with the company these days, but he's spent more than enough time with The Game to at least have an idea about what makes him tick. Triple H's fingerprints are already all over the weekly Raw and SmackDown shows, but Flair doesn't think the shifts will stop there. In fact, the change he sees coming down the road would mean massive changes for some of the company's biggest stars.
Under Vince McMahon, WWE tried to build the WWE Championship and Universal Championship into attractions. They were treated as if they were too good to be defended on weekly television or even on the smaller live events like Hell In A Cell or Extreme Rules. This has led to several non-champions who don't ever wrestle, including Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. McMahon desired this kind of booking, believing it made shows such as WrestleMania or SummerSlam even more of a spectacle. Flair doesn't believe Triple H sees things the same way, however.
While speaking on his podcast, To Be The Man, Flair shared his opinion on how Hunter views part-time wrestlers holding titles: "He looks at the big picture totally different than other people do, than other people have. I don't think he's crazy about the part-time performers. That would be my take on it." Ric continued, saying that was the case, "especially in a title role, the title picture, this is just me taking a guess, I think he's going to work towards having people who are champions working more dates. Flair's Speculated Change Would Be Great For WWE
The Dirtiest Player In The Game might be onto something here. It's already evident that Triple H cares more about building the United States and Intercontinental Championships more than McMahon did. Bobby Lashley and Gunther have been treated like main eventers while wearing those titles. Hunter has relied heavily on WWE's outstanding production capabilities to create packages highlighting the lineage and prestige of both the IC and US Championships, and they already feel more critical.
Handling Roman Reigns and the unified WWE Championship will take a much more deft touch. Simply pulling the rug out from underneath The Tribal Chief wouldn't be the move. Fans want to see him wrestle more, but the key is that audiences are clamoring for more of Roman for once. Not less. It'd take some tricky booking, but if Triple H can figure out an excellent way to move the WWE Championship to Clash At The Castle while keeping the Universal Championship on Reigns, it'd be a stroke of genius.
