Drew Goddard will turn his attention to the Deadpool 2 costars Josh Brolin (Cable) and Zazie Beetz (Domino).

20th Century Fox has yet to set an official release date for X-Force, but it's been heavily rumored that filming will start before 2018 draws to a close. In the meantime, Goddard is keeping busy with post-production on his noir thriller Bad Times, which opens in theaters in October. Since Fox is the studio behind both X-Force and Bad Times, they have agreed to hold off on rushing into the former until Goddard is fully done with his current project.

Cinemablend got a chance to ask Goddard how he's balancing his commitments to both X-Force and Bad Times at this past week's press junket for Bad Times. Here's what the director had to say on that topic:

It's a good question. I've learned I'm very much a one-movie-at-a-time kind of guy, and they all know. It's the same studio, which is nice, so they can say, 'Okay, get [Bad Times At The El Royale] done,' and then once I get this movie done and get this into theaters we'll turn our attention that way.

Goddard was serving as showrunner/creator on Marvel and Netflix's the impending Disney/Fox deal, there's some uncertainty surrounding X-Force - even after the runaway box office success of Deadpool 2.

That said, it's highly unlikely that X-Force will go the way of Sinister Six, no matter what the future holds for Fox. Deadpool 2 only came out in theaters a month back anyway, so there's no need for Goddard and Fox to fast track X-Force more than they already have. Plus, with Bad Times shaping up to be something special, that's all the more reason for Goddard to take his time fine-tuning the film before he turns his attention fully to Deadpool and his super-friends.
