Spoilers for X-Force #16 ahead!
One of the Namor the Sub-Mariner, just threatened to destroy them. The one-time ally to the X-Men, and a mutant himself, Namor warned the mutants that their encroachment on his kingdom would no longer be tolerated. This is a far cry from his attitude in the past, and readers get to see it in X-Force #16 by writer Benjamin Percy, artist Joshua Cassara and colorist Guru-eFx.
Namor is one of Marvel’s oldest characters—debuting in Motion Pictures Funnies Weekly, the first Marvel comic. He is half-human, half-Atlantean, and the son of royalty. undersea team of Avengers, as well as assume a more hostile attitude towards air-breathers. And now that animosity has rxtended to his fellow mutants.
While investigating the source of diseased corpses washing up on the shores of Krakoa, the island paradise home of the X-Men. Wolverine, Forge and Quentin Quire descend into the depths; they soon come into with undersea zombies as well as horrifying sea creatures. The creatures surround the mutants, and just as they go in the for kill, someone intervenes and saves the day. It's none other than Namor. But there is no time for gratitude, as Namor tells them he is tired of Krakoa’s growing influence. He tells them to “piss off” and that if Krakoa and the mutants come his way again, he will destroy Krakoa by sinking it to the bottom of the ocean.
Namor has displayed an even haughtier attitude than usual as of late, but this is above and beyond. Namor is not only a mutant himself, but he has served alongside the X-Men, including Wolverine. Namor has lent the X-Men logistical and political as well. Yet, it is becoming more apparent that Atlantis and the oceans are Namor’s true concern, humans and mutants alike be damned.
Namor has a reputation for being unstable and a loose cannon, yet his of the X-Men, and mutants in general, has been a constant. He regularly declares war on humans, but never mutants. That has come to an end, and the consequences for the X-Men could be grave indeed.
