X-Men are the most recent casualties of that war. Thanks to his newest title as Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, Doom is implementing One World Under Doom, a story arc coming to the entire Marvel line in 2025. In anticipation, it has been revealed that some famous X-Men heroes, like Angel, are siding with the dictator as mutant soldiers in his holy crusade.

One World Under Doom is shaping up to be the next major event in Marvel history. As Doctor Doom asserts his control on the world, he also is imposing his will on heroes like the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and others, with major tie-ins to ongoing comic series. Doom is already spreading his agenda into the minds of other heroes, if Angel's new look on the cover of X-Factor #7 is anything to go by.

THERE’S A NEW MAN IN CHARGE! Angel returns to lead X-Factor, just as Emperor Doom will lead the world to glory! But, in the utopic domain of the magnanimous Doom, what could X-Factor’s mission be? And what could bring them to a small nation on the island of... Genosha?!

The seemingly heavenly superhero known as Angel has transformed into a faceless soldier, wearing the colors and the mask of Doom, showing that even the most pure can fall and become devils.

The X-Men's Founding Hero, Angel, Now Fights for Doctor Doom

Angel Transforms Into Doom's Mutant Soldier

Introduced in The X-Men #1 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the mutant known as Angel was a part of the original roster of the X-Men. Warren Worthington III is a shining light within the X-Men, standing for the mutant's ability to rise above any challenge. If Doom has reached one of the core of the X-Men, then it really is becoming one world under Doom.

Doom knows Warren has a penchant for the darker side.

This cover isn't the first time that Angel has traded his body for a bit of metal. The tyrant mutant Apocalypse once gave him metallic wings and named him the Angel of Death, granting Warren awful powers. After that, Angel's entire personality changed into something darker, and he renamed himself Archangel. While he eventually came back to the light and to his original name of Angel, it seems that Doom knows Warren has a penchant for the darker side - and a metallic flash to his costume.

Our Take on Doom Enlisting an X-Men Member as His Angel of Doom

The Avengers and the X-Men Will Soon Battle Doctor Doom - Again

Comic book art: Doctor Doom uses green energy powers as he looks imperiously down.

Doctor Doom is officially recruiting heroes to become part of his army of sorcerers. Spider-Man has already taken Doom's boon and became an apprentice to the dictator of Latveria. It seems that Angel is now next. Following his Archangel model, Angel is dipping into the dark side by becoming a masked soldier who looks more like a doombot than an X-Man. Slowly, Doom is imposing his image upon the face of the world, and this X-Men member is the face of this change.

Big X-Men plans are in the works, but there will be other comics under the One World Under Doom umbrella in addition to X-Factor #7, such as Fantastic Four #19 and Storm #5. Heroes are quickly picking sides, and so the Fantastic Four and Storm might have to face their once-friend Angel in a battle for the world's soul. In any case, next year, a "new" member of the X-Men debuts, and his purpose is clear: he is the Angel of Doctor Doom.
