There is no denying that the X-Men movies created by the renamed 20th Century Studios have their place in history. In a time when comic book movies were considered a dying breed, X-Men along with Blade brought new life to the subgenre. That doesn't mean they've aged perfectly.

As more comic book movies were made, the X-Men movies showcased many problems. One of the biggest being that many characters were often sidelined and/or given little to no development. With Disney now owning the X-Men franchise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe could fix things by giving their rebooted characters spin-offs.

Cyclops

One of the biggest complaints fans had with the 20th Century films was their treatment of Cyclops. Rather than the Captain America-esque leader figure of the X-Men, he was reduced to being a grumpy, jealous boyfriend.

Even when the character returned with Tye Sheridan, Scott Summers was still sidelined by the likes of Mystique and Jean Grey. A solo film for Cyclops could make him into the honorable hero that he should be and even get a trilogy à la Captain America.

Blink leaping into action in Marvel comics

when Blink was in X-Men: Days Of Future Past? Nobody would blame those that don't. She was only in the film for a few minutes, featured some neat action, then was killed off. Blink has the ability to open a portal to anywhere at any angle, somewhat similar to Valve's Portal games. This could lead to some more really dynamic action scenes.

Blink has been part of several teams including Generation X, the junior team of X-Men. The character has also been an agent of S.W.O.R.D., the organization established in Disney+'s WandaVision.

Iceman

Imagine if Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat mixed with Elsa from Frozen. That is Iceman, an Omega-level mutant whose cryomancy powers are beyond anyone else's in the Marvel universe. Iceman is a younger character with a lot of heart, is also very fun-loving, but can take a situation seriously when needed.

Iceman A.K.A. Bobby Drake is also an openly gay character who could provide a superhero voice for the LGBTQ+ community. His own movie could allow for an LGBTQ+ lead for Marvel rather than the typical cop-out of it only being hinted at.

Kitty Pryde

Elliot Page performed well as Kitty but his portrayal of the character was given little in of development. In the comics, Kitty Pryde A.K.A. Shadowcat is just a fun character. A typical teenage girl who just so happens to be able to phase-walk through any matter.

With that kind of power, she could have easily turned evil. Instead, Kitty is actually one of the kindest and most caring of the X-Men. There were once rumors of a Kitty Pryde movie in the past but it never went anywhere.

Nightcrawler

In X2: X-Men United, Alan Cumming surprised everyone with his portrayal of Nightcrawler. His teleporting, his gymnastic fighting style, and his overall design were beloved. Unfortunately, despite being a fan favorite, Cumming hated the makeup so much that he refused to return.

Nightcrawler did not return until X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix where he was underutilized. A Nightcrawler movie could delve into an important part of the character's history: Mystique is his mother. Plus, showing off the peaceful yet heroic nature of Nightcrawler just like X2 did.

Jubilee

Jubilee could end up being the Ant-Man of the new X-Men franchise. The character nobody expects to like and even scoffs at but the final product shocks them. Jubilee's firework ability seems useless at first but she is capable of fending off Sentinels and even ends up being a leader figure to the New Warriors.

Whether it's the young adult trying to figure out her place in the world or the woman trying to raise her child in a crazy world, Jubilee is an underrated character that audiences would love. It also wouldn't be the first time she was the main character as shown from the 90s X-Men: The Animated Series.

Storm

X-Men Storm

The Halle Berry portrayal was stunning from a visual standpoint but another victim of being sidelined in favor of Wolverine. An MCU movie could show her upbringing, show how much of a maternal figure she is for the X-Men, and just how powerful she can be.

Also with Storm could allow a crossover with the next Black Panther. So when she acts as a leader alongside Cyclops in new X-Men ensemble films, audiences can see why she is a leader.

Wolverine (Laura Kinney)

The biggest debate when it comes to the MCU's X-Men is if Hugh Jackman should return as Wolverine or not? Or who could replace him as Logan? The best option to save Marvel some struggle is to let Logan rest, at least for now, and bring in his daughter.

In the comics, X-23 A.K.A. Laura has evolved to take her father's place as the new Wolverine. Perhaps rebooting with Laura is the better choice, especially since the character was beloved in James Mangold's Logan. Use Laura to not only showcase another great female character but set up Logan for another time.

Magneto

If there was anybody who deserved a spin-off during the 20th Century Studios era, it was Magneto. Both the Ian McKellan and Michael Fassbender portrayals were the one consistently praised thing besides Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Magneto could be the best example of an anti-hero film.

The anti-hero can lead his own franchise with ease. Plus, the character could lead to many allegories much like in the comics. Providing awesome adventures while also providing commentary on the world.

Gambit

The previous X-Men canon was not kind to Gambit fans at all. The beloved ragin' Cajun got his film debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but only for a glorified cameo. Many thought Taylor Kitsch's Gambit was one of the best things about the maligned spin-off so many waited for X-Men Origins: Gambit.

Later on, Gambit was going to get his movie starring Channing Tatum. Sadly, it went through development hell, and currently, it seems to be stuck in limbo. Many hope that Gambit gets his due in the MCU, especially after a fan film on YouTube showed the character's potential. Part crime-thriller and part superhero narrative, a movie about the Louisianan anti-hero would bring everyone to the theaters.
