While the X-Men hero may have more limited abilities than his teammates, Colossus has become a fan favorite for a reason. Sure, he can't lift buildings with his mind or teleport across the country, but he's incredibly strong and unbelievably durable. And sometimes, that's all someone needs to make a difference.

Thankfully, the Marvel Multiverse has produced countless different versions of every character. And considering just how popular the X-Men have been for decades, fans are spoiled for choice of versions and variants. From versions of Colossus with the power of Thor, to versions who hunger for human flesh, these are the top 10 most powerful versions of Colossus from across Marvel's Multiverse.

10 Colossus Gets A New Design In Marvel's Mangaverse

Marvel Mangaverse: X-Men #1 by C.B Cebulski, Jef Matsuda, and A.J. Jothikumar

A version of Marvel stylized after anime with an overwhelming Japanese sensibility, this universe's Colossus was killed off long before the story even began. His body was then brought back to life to use as a vessel for the demon Magnus. While the idea of a demon possessing the body of Colossus might seem alarming, he didn't really pose much threat, as he was killed in the same issue he debuted in.

The only thing this Colossus really had going for him was an eye-catching sumo wrestler design, but is otherwise the weakest version of Colossus on this list. Despite the fantastic design, the fact he died technically twice in his only issue is a bit embarrassing.

9 Ferro Man Was Basically Colossus, In A Mask

X-Patrol #1 by Karl Kesel and Roger Cruz.

The Amalgam Universe was a fun idea that brought readers character fusions such as Batman and Wolverine becoming Dark Claw. Other hero fusions weren't as popular or interesting, as Colossus was fused with Ferro. Ferro was a member of the Legion of Superheroes and his power was that he could transform his skin into highly durable metal. This is the exact same power as Colossus, with no difference in of weakness or strengths. They were both highly durable, and had superhuman stamina and superhuman strength.

When these two characters fused together into Ferro Man, he essentially gained the power to do what he always did, except slightly better. It really wasn't the most imaginative combination, as Colossus literally gained nothing new from this fusion. But it did give Colossus a new outfit.

8 Earth-X Colossus Became A Major X-Men Villain

Earth X #0 by Jim Krueger, Alex Ross, and John Paul Leon.

The history of Colossus on Earth-9997 is complicated, to say the least. Instead of being the heroic figure that most know, he started out as a hero, but quickly succumbed to darkness as he fell in love with the Phoenix Force, bonded to Jean Grey. When Jean died, Colossus took on the identity of Mister Sinister and became obsessed with trying to revive her. It's also important to note that mutation works differently on this Earth than on Earth-616, meaning that Colossus' first-tier mutation would likely be his iconic powers. Still, his second or third-tier mutation could have granted him the same powers as Mr. Sinister.

This would mean that Earth-X Colossus is remarkably powerful, blessed with both his normal strength and durability, along with the full roster of Mr. Sinister's abilities. But it's unclear if he actually gained these powers or simply took on the name of Mr. Sinister.

7 The Marvel Zombie Colossus is Truly Terrifying

Marvel Zombies: Dead Days #1 by Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips

For all the horror that zombies might be capable of, the good news si that they are usually easy to kill (and most of the way into decomposition anyway). That wasn't the case for Colossus, who transformed into perhaps one of the most powerful zombies in all fiction. Not only did he keep his enhanced strength, but he also had his organic steel skin, meaning he was practically unkillable.

With his lust for flesh, Colossus could stumble through any melee attack or gunfire until he reached his victims. It's a remarkably terrifying idea: a completely invulnerable zombie, and with just one bite, he could infect and transform someone into a zombie as well.

6 A Vampire Colossus Is Even More Terrifying Than A Zombie

What If...? #24 by Roy Thomas, R.J.M. Lofficier, Tom Morgan, Tom Vincent, and Janice Chiang

Not only has Colossus been a zombie, but he's been a vampire too. When Marvel readers were shown whar would have happened if Wolverine became the Lord of the Vampires, they witnessed how easily he could infect the entire X-Men team. Sending a vampiric Juggernaut to kill Doctor Strange before he can discover a cure, Wolverine practically takes over America as he vampirizes the majority of heroes.

It's unclear exactly how he managed to infect Colossus, but a vampire who is immune to being staked, holy water, or even the sun is a terrifying concept. Since Colossus' metal doesn't count as his skin, he's immune to practically all normal vampire weaknesses, while retaining all his strengths and the ability to turn people to the growing Vampire ranks.

5 Colossus, The King of Limbo

Wolverine & the X-Men #36 by Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness

Colossus is an incredibly powerful physical fighter, but he doesn't have much answer to magic. This was changed when Colossus inherited the Soulsword from his sister Illyana, unlocking the ability to create battle armor to enhance his already durable skin, ultimately attaining the title of King of Limbo due to owning the sword.

He was also capable of striking down both supernatural and even ethereal beings. It was an incredible weapon for someone like Colossus and one he used for years. Compared to other versions of Colossus, this one is almost a straight upgrade, having all of the normal powers, before getting an external enhancement to every facet of his being.

4 Age of Apocalypse Colossus Survived In Marvel's Darkest World

Generation Next #1 by Scott Lobdell, Mark Waid, Roger Cruz, and Steve Epting

In this grim reality, Apocalypse's army captured Colossus' older brother, the Russian hero Mikhail. Apocalypse turned this hero into his greatest weapon, as he brainwashed Mikhail into becoming one of his Horsemen of Apocalypse. This forced Colossus to try and lead a resistance against his brother, but he was soundly defeated and all his allies were killed. Fleeing Russia, he ed the X-Men to try and lead another resistance against Apocalypse.

Out of everyone on this list, this version of Colossus had the hardest life. From having to flee his home country after his brainwashed brother conquered it for Apocalypse, to a moment when he was driven mad with grief over the death of his sister and ended up killing his own wife because of it. Colossus was later revived but again died against the Exterminators.

3 Ultimate Colossus Was Slightly Weaker Than The 616 Version

Ultimate X-Men #1 by Mark Millar and Adam Kubert

The Ultimate Universe was filled with different versions of iconic superheroes, with just about everyone getting changed in a major way, and Colossus was no exception. Colossus still had all the powers that would be expected of him, but they were just slightly reduced, along with similar feats of his high-end strength (crushing the adamantium in Wolverine's leg is impressive, but the metal is also weaker in the Ultimate Universe than elsewhere).

Likewise, he was hindered by a few weaknesses that 616 Colossus never dealt with. For example, his metal skin is vulnerable to Rogue's touch. But to make up for all of this, Ultimate Colossus was a far more brutal fighter and had no issue with killing his enemies if he felt it was the best course of action, which made him significantly more dangerous.

2 The Main Colossus is A Surprisingly Powerful Variant

Giant-Size X-Men #1 by Len Wein, and Dave Cockrum

It's unlikely that the original version of a character will be the strongest, with the Multiverse creating worlds in which Wolverine is fused with Ghost Rider, or where Captain America has the Power Cosmic. But Colossus is an exception, as his 616 variant is exceedingly powerful. That was even before Colossus took over the role of Juggernaut, in addition to fist fighting Cain Marko, as well.

While it's likely some multiversal variants of Colossus hould be stronger almost none of them have actually gone through the same battles as 616 Colossus to prove their true power. In of sheer strength and battles won, 616 Colossus is almost undefeated.

1 Colossus With The Power Of Thor Is Unstoppable

A-Force #3 by Marguerite Bennett, G. Willow Wilson, and Jorge Molina

Colossus is an absolute physical powerhouse, but he gained powers that were completely unmatched when he was fused with Thor. The Colossus seen on Earth-15513 seemed to have all the mutant abilities of 616 Colossus, but was also dressed as Thor, meaning he likely possessed his powers too. This means Colossus' physical strength would be truly next level.

It's honestly hard to imagine any version of Colossus that could be more powerful, as a fusion of a mutant with incredible strength and defensive powers merged with the God of Thunder is a combination that just can't be beat. Of every version in the Multiverse, Colossus with the powers of Thor is simply the strongest.
