The beloved Krakoan Age of the X-Men is about to draw to a close, wrapping up yearslong plots, setting the mutants up for their newest era, and most likely permanently doing away with Krakoa's impressive Resurrection Protocols. The Five and their circuit abilities essentially made mutantkind immortal the past five years of publication, resurrecting countless deceased mutants... and yet, there are still scores of dead mutants who were never given the chance at a second life.
At first Krakoa's Resurrection Protocols had strict rules around reviving dead mutants, like policies against clone resurrection, a secret rule to not resurrect precognitives, and the ability to only resurrect mutants who died after Cerebro was built. However, after the Scarlet Witch created the Elysian-like "Waiting Room," allowing the soul of any dead mutant from any time to be resurrected, many of these rules faded, but many mutants were still not brought back because they were low down in The Five's "queue." Below are 15 mutants that Krakoa missed the opportunity to resurrect during the iconic Krakoan Age:
15 Petra
Two of the mutants that fans were most vocal about wanting to be resurrected, who didn't get the revival treatment, are Petra and Sway from Deadly Genesis. This shocking storyline revealed that Professor Xavier had sent a team to rescue the X-Men from the evil Krakoa before the Giant-Size X-Men team, but they had all died. Petra, a young woman with powerful control of different types of earth, was killed by Krakoa, and her sacrifice was hidden by Xavier, a truly disgusting act from the "noble" Professor.
14 Sway
Just like Petra, Sway was a part of the Deadly Genesis rescue team that perished in their fight against Krakoa, but Sway had the power to slow down or stop time in a small vicinity around her. Sway and Petra's teammate Vulcan - who was quite unstable at the time - created energy constructs of the two women who he thought were real. Unable to resurrect them at the time because they ed before Cerebro was constructed, when they were able to be resurrected after the Waiting Room was created, Xavier tried to broach the subject with Vulcan but he exploded in anger.
13 Evan Sabahnur
Evan Sabahnur, or Genesis, was a young clone of the villainous Apocalypse, introduced in 2011's Uncanny X-Force #7. Evan ed the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning and quickly became a fan-favorite character because he was determined to be good and loyal to his friends. Evan was murdered by Omega Red and was at first not resurrected on Krakoa because of the Quiet Council's rule against clone revival. Yet after the resurrection of two iconic clones, Honey Badger and Madelyne Pryor, fans and characters were left to wonder, "Why not Evan?"
12 Adrienne Frost
One of the highlights of the Krakoan Era was the Quiet Council's decision to forgive all past villainous activity and let any mutant live on the island, regardless of how evil they may be. This made for intense drama and fascinating plots, but one iconic mutant villain who was not resurrected was Adrienne Frost, the evil sister of Emma Frost. It is not surprising that Adrienne, a psychometric mutant, was not revived seeing as Emma explicitly stated she pushed her way down in The Five's queue... but her return to the X-Men would have been a blast to see.
11 Sapna
The young Sapna, introduced during the Inhumans vs. X-Men era, was a powerful and demonically influenced mutant who was omnilingual, similar to Cypher. Magik, herself a demonically influenced young child once, took Sapna under her wing to train her. Sapna was eventually possessed by the World-Eater, and Magik could only save Limbo, and countless other dimensions, by killing Sapna while the World-Eater was within her. Sapna's soul lived on in Illyana's Soulsword, which has never been mentioned again, or used to resurrect the young mutant.
10 Silver Fox
Silver Fox, a member of the Blackfoot Native American Tribe with retractable claws, quickly became a lover and close confidante of Wolverine when they met in the Canadian Rockies. Logan and Silver truly loved each other, but she unfortunately became one in a long line of women close to Wolverine who were slaughtered. Brutally murdered by Sabretooth at the behest of Romulus, she eventually returned during the Team X era, before it was revealed she was a clone or impersonator. It is in many ways surprising that Logan did not push for Silver Fox's resurrection after the creation of the Waiting Room.
9 U-Go Girl
U-Go Girl is a fascinating mutant hero, part of the new media-branded "X-Force" team, which was eventually renamed X-Statix at U-Go's request as she lay dying. A powerful teleporter, Edith Sawyer wanted to be a true hero as well as a celebrity and struggled with her drinking among other vices. Eventually getting into a romantic relationship with Mister Sensitive, U-Go Girl was killed during a space mission. X-Statix has always been separate from mainline X-Men comics, but instead of requesting Krakoa resurrect her, the X-Cellent decided to recruit her teleporting daughter Katie instead.
8 Diamond Lil
Diamond Lil was a mutant with superhuman strength and flexibility, recruited onto the Gamma Flight team by Department H, and working with the Canadian mutant team for some time. Diamond had an on-again off-again relationship with the mutant hero Madison Jeffries, eventually marrying him but then leaving him when he decided to re Alpha Flight. Diamond moved to Utopia in San Francisco but was tragically murdered in Selene's Necrosha attack on the island, after which Madison buried her at sea in a glass coffin, and it would have been lovely to see her and Jeffries back together again.
7 Beautiful Dreamer
Beautiful Dreamer was a member of the Morlocks, a group of mutant outcasts - many with physical mutations that prevented them from blending in with humans - that lived most commonly in the "Morlock Tunnels." While many Morlock characters were resurrected on Krakoa, reversing the terrible Mutant Massacre event, Beautiful Dreamer was not so lucky (alongside other Morlocks like Annalee and Sunder). Dreamer can wipe and replace memories and was used as a mutant bomb by the Leper Queen, infected with the Legacy Virus which caused her powers to overload, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and herself.
6 Cannon Foot
Cannon Foot is a truly tragic character, a mutant manipulated into hating Wolverine by Logan's son, Daken, and The Red Right Hand, an assassin group with a personal vendetta against Wolverine. Cannon Foot, who seemingly had a mix of Beast and Wolverine's mutant abilities, was a strong fighter, but he was not powerful enough to defeat Logan, who killed him in battle. Afterward, it was revealed that Cannon Foot was Logan's biological son, which even he may not have known. It would have been lovely to see him resurrected and getting to the Snikt Family.
